History is repeating itself. Kim Il-Sung was seen as the "Supreme Leader" and even in the death is considered North Korea's emeritus ruler. Kim Jong-Il lacked his father's (Kim Il-Sung) charisma, military experience and respect. So Kim Jong-Il cleaned house and brought in loyalists who were not linked to this father. Kim Jong-Un is a lesser man than his father (Kim Jong-Il), so the pattern continues. Kim Il-Sung was a guerrilla, fought against the Japanese and was a war hero. Neither Kim Jong-Il nor Kim Jong-Un can say the same and each generation of the Kim Dynasty seems weaker from a purely charismatic, power standpoint.

Looks like Kim Jong-un was more upset about those clams, crabs, and coal mines than anyone thought: According to a report in pro-China paper Wen Wei Po, Kim executed his uncle, Jang Song-thaek, by feeding him alive to a pack of 120 hungry dogs.

The report said that Jang and five of his aides were stripped naked and tied to railings, at which point the dogs, who had been starved for three or five days, depending on the report, were unleashed. Kim and his older brother, Kim Jong Chol, personally supervised the hour-long massacre along with 300 other top North Korean officials. Jang and his aides were "completely eaten up," according to Wen Wei Po.

The clam and crab business was very lucrative for them and one of few ways they are able to keep their GDP where it is. There arent enough avenues for making money for them to be able to afford losing money.

Something has got to give with this nation. Its going to take more than charisma to bring money into North Korea. The leadership is very stubborn but there is only so prosperous they can become relying on china for the majority of their imports and exports, friend. I guess china likes it like that but they've been propped up by outsiders for a while now. Even the Soviet Union, before they fell.
