That's very false. Movies were available to everyone and Siskel & Ebert were still guys who people looked to for their opinion (and eventually Roeper). If reviews were that antiquated, Fantano wouldn't be able to build a career off of it. At most what we have are the NoLifeShaq's, the DJ Ghost's, and a few others who make reaction vids to new stuff (which I fukk with big time and have been since 2020). For a generation that used to religiously read Source and XXL reviews, we're reduced to watching a new generation call something classic before they reach track 5. You can argue that for the last 15-20 years or so, we don't really know what's considered classic or not to people who don't listen to rap because we didn't have a trusted voice confirming our beliefs, so non-rap outlets took it, ran with it, and now Pitchfork is the new Source.
