You trusting these corporations to just be using beans and not adding extra stuff to add "flavor"?
Extra stuff can be added to meat, too so I'm not so sure that this is a major concern, unless you're willing to prepare and cook your own food from the ground to the table.

Not saying that these alternative-meat products are healthy, but you may be forgetting the point of fast food, which is "fast" food. While most people aren't specifically looking for healthy options, there are a lot of people who want choices that aren't quite as unhealthy as the traditional fair but can still be served quickly. With the non-meat options, health is only part of the equation. People just want a something fast and convenient that presumably, doesn't involve harming animals. Contrary to popular belief, vegetarians aren't necessarily much healthier than others.
