They have a device that can open garage doors too. Go on Youtube and search for Flipper Zero. It has a lot of uses but one is opening garage doors.

My nephew just almost had his Charger stolen about two weeks ago, but the only thing that saved him was he had a kill switch installed. They got the whole thing on camera. Dude came up and got his vin from his vehicle. He had one of those 1000 computer tools to program a key for the car as if it was lost, but left because he didnt want to bother finding the kill switch.

With a flipper you can try and brute force it and keep sending random codes until you get lucky, or you need to first capture a code from someone pressing the button.

It’s not the same as what happened here which is capturing the signal the key fob is always sending out.

i'm saying, your dream car is a luxury midsize SUV that offers none of the durability or reliability of a Landcruiser or 4runner....that's just as easy to steal as a kia.
People in that market aren’t concerned about durability as much as the average person. They are aware that these vehicles are over-engineered and typically 3-4 year “rentals” before they get swapped out by the latest generation

Not saying its the same but we’re saying that its possible to do essentially the same thing on a garage
