Go read Dynamite threads and see what lines people go apeshyt for. His edginess is what gets him over. I watch WWE too and there is a clear distinction between the remarks he makes and what Paul Heyman says about being a jew :mjlol:

If you think MVP is killing it right now you should go watch some of his stuff in Impact, another example of someone that has to dumb down to be on a family show.

MJF is thriving in AEW because he is allowed to be free and creative on the mic. There is no refining for him, he clearly can do a WWE promo if he wanted, but then he would just be another dude. Also he is only 5'10, that's a deathwish waiting to happen up north... He should stay AEW as long as he is booked this strong.
I don't need to read the Dynamite threads, I watch Dymamite. I'm right here every Wednesday.
Also, I don't care about MVP in TNA (even though I was a Beatdown Clan fan), or his work in NJPW. MVP is great on the mic NOW!
Furthermore, bringing up height is weird since Rey Jr., Benoit, Danielson, Sean Michaels, etc. were all little guys who've held titles. MVP's height wouldn't hold him back.
We'll just have to agree to disagree, and we'll see where the Jew from Long Island ends up when his contract expires.

I just think everything that makes MJF as good as he is in AEW, is because he's in AEW. They don't care about your size, he's able to feud with other small to medium dudes so he looks great. Imagine he would be in WWE right now, with Drew/Lashley/Brock/Reigns pushed as the top dudes, first he would have to overcome the hurdle of getting booked into that title scene, then overcome not just being a geek that is fed to them and destroyed..

Then he has no clout like the Heymans, who is one of the only ones that can go out there and improv his promo. Not even Reigns can do that. Imagine MJF getting handed a word for word script, even if it has edgy bits written into it. It's just not a good fit for a guy like him to be in the WWE way of the world imo.

But hey who knows, the pop and initial debut would be huge and I'd mark out like crazy for at least the first month regardless.....

I think unless he says something that could lead to FCC fines, MJF would be ome of the guys who can mostly freestyle his promos.
On the flip side, now that he's learning the sports entertainment business, Tony Khan may start censoring more of his wrestlers, word to Max Castor. Some of the AEW guys could realistically start getting scripted promos too, especially once the Turner execs start paying more attention.

It's not about FCC, it's about what WWE wants their talent to say on their tv show. MJF calling Pillman's wife a meth head, and telling Pillman Jr his mother should have swallowed and aborted him. One of MJF's great heaters on the mic, doesn't break FCC, it's just hard af lines. Sometimes that's all you need for wrestling to be good. In WWE, they would never even think about writing that shyt for anyone. Just gives a bad vibe for the younger audience and they are over cautious in regards to keeping sponsors happy.

No newcomer is getting any leeway in terms of being able to freestyle on the mic, especially one known for edgy worked shoots. The only way you earn that is years of loyalty. The list of people who can currently do this are Heyman, Cena, any McMahon. That's it. Everyone else has to follow a word for word script, even MVP. The writers are doing him great justice right now, and I'm sure he's lined up every show, trying to get things adjusted and added with the writing crew.

As an E stan I know MJF looks like the most poach worthy talent, but he truly do belong in AEW's way of working.

It's absolutely about the FCC, that's who controls what you can and can't say on television, and Turner Broadcasting. Tony Khan isn't switching channels because he wants to.
I guess that "E stan" comment was for me, but I don't work for Vince or Tony Khan. Neither the old cracka or the young Paki put any money in my pocket, yours either. I'm a wrestling fan, and I watch it all. Anybody who only watches one wrestling show out of some one-sided sense of loyalty is a wierdo. Vince and Tony couldn't care less about y'all. Watch what you want.
Anyway, If I were Nick Khan I wouldn't feature MJF because I already have The Miz, and for what they'll probably pay Maxwell, I could get Powerhouse Hobbs (my first choice, and he has the biggest upside), Serena Deeb, and possibly Marq Quinn (he also has a good upside).
MJF is the pretty girl at the Waffle House; but like CM Punk said, he's a Great Value Miz. A one trick pony. Signing him is just a way to keep AEW from having him, but he'd be a midcarder/upper midcarder. I could get the other people I named for around the same money.

WWE does not cater to the FCC. They come nowhere CLOSE to approaching stuff that would get them in hot water. For reference just think of the shyt Attitude era did, that would be content where they pushed the limit. WWE going super PG coincided with them going public, and wanting to attract audiences of all ages, and bigger corporate partners. You have to push out a family friendly product to get family friendly sponsors and family friendly viewers. WWE don't make abortion comments because it breaks FCC, because it doesn't. They don't make those comments because it's too far away from their mantra that WWE should be able to be enjoyed by people of all ages. Nothing wrong with that, but I'm an adult and I want the most savage MJF when I watch him, not a tamer version.

That was my whole point, last post as we going in circles now, but good discussion. :salute:

Nah. He has great mic and screen presence and would be someone writers get creative with. There's no reason to think he wouldn't be in a better position than Austin Theory or be feuding with miz or Seth Rollins.

You can't be going out there making rape jokes which is why he got suspended. Think he's gotten a little more involved with structure, but censoring hasn't been anything he's been going overboard with.

This. If he went to the WWE, his promos at best will be scripted except for a line or two that he can bullet point. Even with that, he would downright embarrass at least 80-85% of the WWE roster in a promo to the point they would be tripping over their words trying to come up with a comeback. It would ruffle a lot of feathers if someone came into the company and had all that creative freedom with promos when others have had to deal with the BS of staying on a poorly written script.
