That's why it will always be funny when Oklahoma(minus mocking CP) was touting Juvi was a linebacker at Tijuana State! JR went overboard with where people went to college and what they did. If they were so good they'd have done that instead of being in wrestling. It's not like everyone was Kurt Angle
Usually, Ross (or more likely his color man, Ventura or whomever) would follow it up by justifying it - even if it's kayfabe, saying that a dude was a top athlete, but knew that the real money was in pro wrestling, or a dude was a top athlete, but he was too violent for the confines of most sports and had to gravitate to wrestling where he could use his elite athleticism to beat people up for a living would put them over big.
You tell me that '88 Ron Simmons was an elite LB in college, but he was too violent for the NFL, and I'm going to a) believe it and b) believe in him when you push him. That's IMO.
Wonder what Mean Mark's stats looked like, since he was by all accounts a good to great athlete.
I should compile some of these and start a "wrestlers who were college/pro athletes" thread. I was wondering about Paul Orndorff's college football career after he passed the other day. He was apparently pretty beastly at FB.
This is a great thread, actually. I've never seen clips of that specific Nash shoot.
