I wouldn't trust my family with that kind of money. Not everyone is built for this and I'd rather someone that has been at this a while if I'm not doing this myself and subsequent fukking over some of my money through growing pains of learning this stuff. I've come to find accounting as something that 'you were born to do type thing and if you never desired for it before, then this ain't for you type of thing. Money management is a very nuanced thing. This situation is more of a financial acumen type of thing than strictly accounting but it would help to know both, especially if you are to create a business and you would know what is the difference between GAAP/Tax differences, deferred tax assets/liabilities, articles of incorporation, etc.. I'm an accountant in my 9-to-5. The larger the amount of money, the more that you should want to exert control and awareness over it. They aren't managing companies where someone really needs to mind the books daily so they should be able to do this themselves, meaning the athletes. Learning things like buying municipal bonds in the state that you reside in are non-taxable or is it advantageous to buy common stock or preferred stock and when should I recognize fair value over the equity method. What I've just said isn't the hardest thing in the world for others to learn. I wouldn't suggest learning things like leases and inventory unless he really wants to get the weeds of it all. I just simply look at them as if they are lazy.
