While I'm very disappointed in KDs decision, I respect any man that follows his heart and has the guts to step outside of his comfort zone.
With that being said, KD is a punk.
Now LBJ spent seemingly a lifetime in CLE dominating the NBA with garbage players. His best player in those early CLE runs was Big Z and Mo Williams. LBJ was so other worldly, that he turned a mediocre PG in Mo Williams into an All Star in 09. CLE was trash and never surrounded LBJ with the players needed to compete for a ring. He goes to Miami, a team 4 years removed from a championship. Lets be real, the only relevancy the Heat had after winning the ring in 06 was drafting Mike Beasley at number 2 in 08. Miami was mediocre and wasn't relevant as championship contenders. LBJ joins them while they weren't winning and turns them into a champion.
KD's situation is completely the opposite. He grows in a A+ organization in OKC. They get Russ, Harden, Ibaka. They make the Finals in 2012 and lose. Barring those injury riddled seasons, OKC has been a championship contender every year since 2012. They were one shot away from the NBA Finals this year. So close. KD and Russ are two MVP candidates every year.
KD leaves a championship contender for a team at the height of it's success and the very same team that defeated you. That's spineless. Where is the pride in todays NBA? He was one shot away from the NBA finals. They definitely would've beaten them in a 7 game series this year with Oladipo in the mix. OKC management made championship moves each year. Getting Kanter. Getting Adams. Getting Oladipo.
KD leaves HIS team and goes to Stephs team; the team team that repeatedly ripped his heart out. LBJ didn't go join the Spurs or the Celtics.
KD what were you thinking man? "If you can't beat em, Join em."
