bron averaged 30 in 07, 28 in 08 & 29 in 09. If non shooting Bron did that, this version of Bron with an expanded game definitely would
I don’t agree. LeBron’s game is always predicated on the threat of his drive. I think the wear and tear a 37 year old LeBron would’ve endured would keep him from doing the things he did this season.

This was the second most efficient season from 2pt of his career. If he’s doing that at 37, it confirms to me that defenses aren’t what they used to be, regardless of his shooting improvement. He is nowhere close to being what he used to be close in, despite what the stats say.

he's more skilled, and a smarter player in general compared to then. Lebrons diet of long twos are virtually non-existent compared to 00's bron. 00's bron was also more of a tank and faster first step. bron would come down and take about 3-4 ignorant ass 20 foot jumpers just because back then...and that was the style of play.
bron is infinitely more aware of his shot selection now than he was back then. he definitely plays to analytics more now. lebron only goes to midrange jumpers these days when he's on fire....otherwise its 3s or bulldozing...using footwork and spin moves to get to his left or right hand around the rim.....cause he's still an adept finisher with touch. not even getting to how often bron attacks a not-set defense in semi transition.
that's why it's his most efficient season from 2. he limits the hard attempts.
ignoring kd also mentioning the league is more talented now than at any point in history is funny. these things arent mutually exclusive. Players can be more talented and in general its harder to play defense now than any era. Offenses are more complex so are defenses. you got teams running lineups of 5 dudes all shooting 33+ percent from 3.....and dudes spaced out 30 feet out. taking everything away is virtually impossible. its the evolution of the game...just like every single sport in the history of sports. if the objective is scoring people are going to get better at it.
elite players are schemed for more and thats why they're elite. kd said himself on this same podcast if he came down on drop coverage and hit an open 3 in the first quarter...coaches are taking timeout and saying to adjust to that...compared to someone like tobias harris...they'll just live with the odd open shot. kd said he hasnt had a crazy 60 point or 70 point game cause he's schemed for...and shooting over 2 people ALL game isnt feasible. but i guess you can only take specific things from kd if it fits an agenda.

Has less to do with defense and more to do with the advancement in offensive philosophies and skill development. Stars don't have to deal with two plodding bigs clogging the paint and limiting driving lanes.

Anybody want to bring up counterpoints given by a player built to score the basketball that played in multiple eras? :mjlit:

You talk to new NBA fans or people who only look at stat and KD would have been considered a bust early on in his career: shot under 30% from 3, too skinny to defend, lead the team to the 2nd worst record in the league one year, then the 4th worst the next, etc.

Put some respect on the older eras, the best of the best are telling you that shyt was hard to play in.

2005-2006 Kobe with the green light and the coach getting him unique looks would have been a monster. Ya'll remember what Kobe used to do in traffic, so imagine what would happened if there was more space given to attack.

if it was harder to score because there were less space because the other players weren’t skilled enough. They literally say that in the video

Which made it harder to play in, as said in the video.

Bro said straight up you had ot take difficult midranges because the paint was clogged and threes weren't as acceptable as they are today.

They explain that this era is full of role players with quick releases that can shoot threes and the coaches writing a bunch of plays/counter-plays to get them open means a bunch of space especially for players who can create their own shot with the ball. Defenses are literally spread thin and in disarray today.

All I'm saying with all the skills Kobe had as a three level scorer and more spacing (like mentioned above), dude would've been a nightmare. Ya'll think what Devin Booker is doing today is noteworthy (which is next-level don't get me wrong) then 2005-2006 Kobe and 91-94 Jordan would have been unreal.

Put them on a team with stacked 3 point shooting and make defenses pick which they'd rather stop: somebody built to attack getting shot after shot at the rim and getting everyone in foul trouble or a volley of 3's? Either way, the defense is getting done up.

of course, nikkas will laugh you out the gym for playing defense. nikkas driving in the lane like its the autobahn. shooting threes with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. dont even care if they get beat off the dribble they just in bound it fast and act like they on a fast break after giving up a lay up

MJ and Kobe stans are utterly retarded. How do they always misconstrue shyt for Kobe and MJ benefit is beyond me.
