The closest I can remember in recent time is Vince Carter after tanking his own value before he was traded, but the Raptors ownership also hired the worst front office possible to be cheap so they literally got nothing in return. Took the Raps probably a good decade before they were able to be consistently good.

But destroying a team of THIS caliber? With this many superstars? People forget how fukking good the Nets were before Durant got injured again. It's not even close, this guy is the biggest self-saboteur in NBA history.
