Yes recycling is international grift. A few years ago plastics were sent to China on shipping freighters for them to sort and reusue in industrial usage. Because the labor was so cheap it was economical for them to do this to get cheap raw materials, any excess would then be put back on another container then dumped in the ocean. The same thing is done in India as well as metal recycling the same way. China stopped accepting plastics from the USA because they either didn't need them, found other alternatives, or didn't want to pay for the labor. So now nobody really knows what is going on with recycled plastics..
This is a fact. The Chinese stopped because it stopped being cost effective for them.

The Chinese would, ship goods here and the boats would return with plastic for recycling. Now that the Chinese use cheaper synthetic materials, and no desire to pay its citizens a decent wage to recycle plastics there is no need to accept the waste. I think they ship most of it to Africa and Asian Pacific countries. Either way, kudos to this woman for finding an ethical solution for a problem.
