Above the fray.
*They went in and held meetings with the different sides in Haiti 4 times. Neither Ariel Henry & administration or opposition parties are budging. I've read a few opinion pieces about the crisis, and the "bu bu but imperialism" faction never mentions how hard Caricom has worked to help stabilize the govt. moving forward. Formal and informal mediation methods by regional leaders have not worked.

MEETING OF CARICOM HEADS TODAY DISCUSSES SITUATION IN HAITI
The Seventh Meeting of the Caribbean Community Lead Heads of Government on Haiti was held today under the chairmanship of His Excellency Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana and Chairman of CARICOM, to consider the situation in Haiti and determine further action in support of a Haitian-led solution to the crisis in that sister CARICOM country.

Heads received a briefing from the CARICOM Eminent Persons Group and acknowledged the important efforts being made to facilitate a political consensus among stakeholders in Haiti. They also took account of the status of preparations for the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission. Heads acknowledged the role of Jamaica in coordinating the efforts of the Community in this regard, as well as the critical contributions of Ministers of Foreign Affairs.

Heads remained gravely concerned over the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation in Haiti as the political and security crises persist with the horrendous impacts of this situation on the most vulnerable in Haiti. They noted that increasing violence had resulted in the loss of thousands of lives and forced hundreds of thousands to flee from their homes.
Heads called on all stakeholders in Haiti to exert every effort to urgently arrive at a political resolution and the implementation of a transitional roadmap towards stability, the facilitation of humanitarian support, the holding of credible elections, the restoration of political and institutional legitimacy, and long-term development for the Haitian people.
The Community remains committed to working with the people and all stakeholders in Haiti towards durable peace and sustainable development. CARICOM looks forward to strengthened collaboration and coordination of efforts with the friends of Haiti and the wider international community in support of Haiti.

I personally would have had them all in a room, lock it up and burn it down. Haiti would not be missing much :hubie:

I understand why people dont want the US to intervene given our past history but what other solution is there? Haiti is on the brink of failed state status and unless security is back under control no amount of Hatian pride is going to stabilize the country. At least the Kenyan led/US backed police force was an option. Does CARICOM have a plan other than hosting “talks”?

Well it's two fold frankly Haiti is a Failed state and really no one is going to be able to fix it because the entire political elite is basically good with the situation at hand so since Haitians know that it ain't gonna work it's better for them to ride behind pride.

Theres two major flaws of Black people globally we generally trust outisders way more than we trust ourselves and for the most part Black people are Ok with shytty leadership.

I really hate how we are so complacent with horrible leadership. I hate to sound c00nish but referecing imperialism to cover up bad decision making is getting old. It plays a role but its ultimately up to your leadership to not get fooled by shytty deals.

Kenya is fukked up right now because the last president stole money and sold the country to the Chinese the current dude was Veep so even though he doesn't like him he can't say nothing.

Same in South Africa Zuma got 783 charges on his jacket sold the country to one Indian Family and the current guy can't do nothing because he got shyt on his jacket too so nothing changes.

This is the problem I had in these debates with @Nkrumah Was Right in the Niger thread with all these coups.

Each successive African coup-leader keeps accusing the African leader they’re displacing as being a colonialist shill or something and it becomes the default argument for the insurgent reformist or revolutionary leader every few years. They keep using it as a crutch and sooner or later the world is going to keep passing them by as they refuse to get their shyt together. They hate the USA so much …that they end up flying off to Moscow or Beijing to become Neo-vassals of another power :snoop: …thats why I’m basically like well damn at least the USA/Europe a black diaspora you can work with :heh:

I had to get out of that thread.

Maybe France is the devil but the Coup leaders were trained and aided and abetted by the french and now that they're in Power they're using Wagner to secure the mines meanwhile nothing has changed in their wars.

We got to face facts all the new leaders are doing is getting the big chair so they can get the money thats it and that's all.

I guarantee you all the french companies are still there as long as the pay bribes to the dudes in charge.

I love Africa and I will return but I've seen the fukkery first hand.

They literally kicked out France only to allow Russia to do the exact thing they are complaining about in their country. It makes no sense lol.
