Funds for lawyers for starters. The lawyers that was used in the Martin and brown cases where trash.
But that is what you have to accept when money is short.
From what I gathered, no money was gathered for attorney fees in those cases.
In Martin's case, the state has to actually prosecute since it was criminal. In Brown's case, no charges were brought so there was nothing anyone could do. In both those cases, even if they gathered money, its still on the state or DA to take it to trial and win against the defendant. Now if they were on the opposite side and they got bread, they can get a high price lawyer that can get them off. People put money up cause that's how the Jena Six was able to get out cause folks were donating like crazy and they were able to get proper legal counsel rather than a state appointed defense.
