Kendrick's KONY line is irrelevant while Shawn Carter is still breathing.

Why are people bringing up Hov's accomplishments outside of rap to justify why he is king of NY? The last time I checked..it was just about the music...

When BIG had the title he was dominating as a rapper, putting out classic music...he wasn't no business mogul...that was Puff.

BIG married Faith and had Lil' Kim as his sidechick....not musical...but that made him the man. His crew Junior Mafia was dope, his label wass running shyt. He made Puff HIS hype man. This had nothing to do with music and everything to do with power moves and proved his was a king. If everything was strictly based off of music Nas would be where Jay is....but the point is, this is just as much about positioning, affiliation and strategy is it is about music. If you treat this shyt as a hobby you'll be remembered like an old hobby people used to take part in. That's the difference between Hov' and everybody else. He is a great lyricist and has put out classics, but he also strategized and saw the bigger picture from day 1. Ask Puff, Birdman, Master P,....all Hustlers. At the end of the day the true Hustlers are the ones that win this game.

If your illiterate ass could read you would notice that plenty of posters have used music to justify Jay as the king of NY

:snoop:

Read this guy's post again, and then read his response to my post, and then shut the fukk up about shyt you don't know about basic fakkit.

a hip hop"king' with one semi above average album (given the state of hip hop and his "competition") in comparison to the real king who's sold out shows when kendrick was going through puberty....took Elvis and the Beatles record and married Beyonce, and had her bear his child. Realistically I know that waking up and fukking Beyonce every other morning has nothing to do with being a Hip Hop titan....but then again...it has everything to with it. A Hip Hop King has to marry an equal Queen. Nobody in the game ever did that. Hov' came from the bottom of the bottom in the 70's and 80's when THEY were blatantly trying their hardest to wipe out an entire race of people through poverty and drugs. He escaped that, dominated an entire era....not just by himself, but his ENTIRE TEAM. His peers were Big, Nas, Big L, Busta, AZ! And these weren't RAP PEERS....these were nikkas he went to school with....smoked L's with...had convos about fukking bytches with. And it wasn't for cameras either....they were all bredren. This is a fukking KING. THENNNN on top of that the nikka comes back to Brooklyn almost two decades later....WITH A fukkING NBA TEAM....blocks away from where he used to served dope.

Has jack shyt to do with being KONY. That's what I was talking about.

Its relevant, because I don't think guys like Jay, 50, Nas associate with NYC like that anymore. They are bigger than having to rep and protect NYC on a track even though they still live in the city.

Those guys don't necessarily have a connection on a ground level to the NY hiphop scene like they did coming up.

Leave it to the young kids. K.Dot paid his respects in the song. They know what he was aiming for.

Let me put it like this @Durrbrowski ... what would it take in your opinion for someone to take the title of KONY from Jay? Is it even possible, and if not then does anything he does from this point forward matter, as far as keeping the crown?
I said this in another Kendrick Control thread.

I'd say of all the rappers out right now, Kendrick is in the best position to challenge Jay for his spot. But he has to be direct with it. Or he wont get it. Subliminals and slick little diss lines don't work. Weezy and others found that out. A direct assault weakens Hov. Nas showed that.

Now for someone to take the crown as the King of NY they have to keep these direct assaults up until Hov acknowledges it. It's unlikely Hov will battle someone. But If I were Kendrick or some new comer with some success...I'd bring up all the things that people say about Hov and call him out. I like his decision to say that he's the King of NY and LA. Now the dude has to prove it.

The unfortunate thing is that year after year we get flash in the pan nikkas saying things. But kendrick has a decent foundation. He's respected on the underground and was able to have commercial success on GKMC. if he can keep it up he could become the King.

and to add to that, Kendrick needs to stay to himself. Not have guest features or big up Dre or anyone from the East or West. Take the game on his back and prove that he can do it with his skill alone. and He'd be undisputed. But the chances of that happening are nil.

Bro. Clearly you don't listen to music.

2/3rds of Life is Good Bigged Up NYC and the 80's era of Hip Hop. Hov Bigs up NY on almost every album. That Alicia Keys shyt etc. Fitty I can't comment on. that nikka is a lame in my opinion. and was always a jokester. I never took him seriously as the king of NY. He had to go to Eminem and Dre to become relevant. He struggled for years in the city. nikkas that get shot 9 times aint the king of shyt ...again in my opinion.

all ya must be J.Cole fans too. nikkas want the legends to make room for them Lmfao. if anything i give kendrick an A for effort. He's tryin to make his own lane. I think he was successful in that. Now he has to defend his position. If he can survive than cool. If his next album flops...then the show goes on. Hov Nas and all the old nikkas still run the game.

I didn't say they didn't acknowledge they were from NYC breh.

I said they aren't a part of NY hiphop like that anymore. Were this '96-97, they would've responded immediately. But Jay and Nas rarely interact with the NY hiphop scene outside of the guys they came up with. You see what I'm saying?

When is the last time Jay was on the same track with a younger NYC rapper on his album or as feature?

They leave stuff like this to the younger rappers because they are past it. If Kendrick claims he is King of NY, they are leaving it to the younger generation to defend that.

Jay's whole career has been subliminals and slick little diss lines. Now a nikka can't use them to go at him?

And even if Kendrick called Jay out by name, you would pardon Jay for not responding by claiming Kendrick "isnt on his level yet". So what would it take for Kendrick to get on his level? How many plaques, awards, years "close to the top" (since Jay can stay at the top indefinitely even w/o dropping a record) will it take, before anyone can challenge Jay?

Your stance on Jay being the KONY is like saying Jordan on the Wizards was the best player in the league at that time. It doesnt work that way

nikka..wtf?...I'm starting to think you're taking my posts too personal. First of all you asked my opinion. I gave it. Get off my fukking dikk.

Second of all. I said clearly that Kendrick COULD get to Jay's level if he can stay consistent. That goes for everyone man. I liked artist like DMX ...Wu Tang etc. But the nikkas wasn't consistent. Hov has been. If you don't like him thats on you. It doesn't change the facts.

This all started bc he said he was the KONY. Kendrick that is.

And that's bullshyt.

I just remembered that Jay Z and Kanye both just put out albums. Crazy that this one verse has made more noise than anything they did musically...
