...being a better rapper doesn't make you the king. It hurts to say that as a Kweli/Lupe fan. but it's the truth. There's more to it man. Nas is the closest one...but he isn't consistent. And Biggie is dead so we don't know what would've happened. Therefore he is irrelevant to this argument. And to compare Jay Z to Lil Wayne is false. "I don't pop Molly I rock Tom Ford." ....And to say that lyrically there is no substance is yet again an opinion. FACTS BRUH ...I Need FACTS. Lmfao.

u called Nas inconsistent? :what:

Jay Z couldnt buy Nas catalog, the fukk.

Other
facts are Nas and Biggie are better rappers and universally accepted as that.... yall dumbasses cant provide any argument that Jay Z is goat without bringing up his businesses.

Jay's music is no different from Lil Wayne...no substance, didnt say shyt for 20 years, didnt set any trends, wasnt original etc.

:whoa:

Hahahaha...good one. I almost thought you were being for real. You one funny ass dude! Lol! :russ:

first of all Eminem and 2pac are bigger than Jay Z.

him being huge now has nothing to do with Hip Hop... its because he married Beyonce, "owned" businesses, and is socially accepted by high level Jews and soccer moms.

Jay Z as a rapper is not top 10 if you take away all that shyt u dumb nyggas hype Hov about.

We gotta bring neg reps back

is it oochie wally wally or is it one mic? and I'm a Nas fan. Used to battle Hov fans on the regular. But the nikka has let me down too much in the past. He's too emotional. Not calm and calculated like Hov. And that's what makes you the King.

There's a time limit to being Great? You fukktard? If it wasn't for Hov shyt like the Coli wouldn't exist. I speak truth only. fukk your opinions. The facts are that Jay Z has made Hip Hop more relevant to the world than any other rapper EVER. EVER nikka. That's a fact. And he married a woman that bytches Worship and is the Queen of RnB and pop Music. FACT again.

The close second as far as relevancy is Eminem. He's the white man's GOAT. But they're opinions don't count here. No king of NY....Lmfao..
Lyrically there are many better rappers in the industry. Thats also a fact. But to be a King you must be a dominant figure in all aspects of the game. Sales, Skill, Rep and Relevancy. This nikka been relevant since you and I were in grade school....well shyt. you were probably still in ya daddys sack.

Their last shyt aint better than his first shyt. You lil boys gotta stop with this shyt man.
There is a time limit to being great. Jay's last full on classic dropped on 9/11. Everything else has been debatable. Even outside of classics, Jay's last few releases haven't even been the best discs to drop in their years. In fact outside of AG pretty much everything hes dropped since TBA has been in the bottom half of his discography.

You say he 'made hip hop relevant'... I say he made it more mainstream. His "performance art" video of him putting on a show for all those hipsters and college professors was corny as fukk... not something hip hop should be moving towards.

Like I said, and you played right into, if you bring up shyt like sales and "buzz" to justify why a nikka who has been in a 10 year artistic slide should be counted as the best doing it RIGHT NOW, youre a fakkit. Jay is a brilliant businessman/marketeer and in some respects a good role model. BUT AS FAR AS RAP IN 2013, ON SOME HIP HOP shyt, I have a hard time putting him in the top 3, let alone the throne...

Selling records and having made good albums 10 yrs ago doesnt make you hot now...

Kendrick obviously excluded guys like Nas, Jay, Em and Andre 3k. Ken was talking about the new gen of rappers.

First of All. Like I stated many times. I only want facts. If you dislike his latest albums and think that the art piece was corny that's an Opinion. Others disagree. As far as business goes...I don't care about that. I spoke on record sales. Which no matter what anyone says...is relevant. Underground dudes are nice. But no one cares if they aren't in the mainstream. They have a smaller fan base. even if they're better lyrically. FACT.

I give you props for correcting me. Mainstream is a more appropriate way to explain Jay Z's rise in popularity in the 90's. but he has kept Hip Hop..Relevant in the mainstream now through his business moves. To totally dismiss his moves outside of hip hop and say that they haven't aided in keeping our beloved Genre one of the most talked about things in the news and on social media is irresponsible ignorant and dismissive.

As far as "Hip Hop shyt". I think you are confused. And have no idea what Hip Hop is. Jay drops knowledge and mathematics on MCHG. He tries to connect rap with Art again. Which while some may debate on if it was good or not..I commend him for trying to remind people of our connection to the arts. The city was Hip Hops canvas in the 80s. The 5 Pillars of hip hop rarely get notice by mainstream artists now days. Underground cats keep it real but you never see it with the big money artist. So I gave Jay props for that..when he didn't need to go around promoting this album while wearing a nation of gods and earths chain. People can discuss it's validity but the FACTS are that he put it out there...and no one except Wu Members consistently rep the 5%. A foundation for Hip Hop culture.

LET ME BE CLEAR. I WANT PROOF THAT SOMEONE OTHER THAN JAY IS THE KING OF NEW YORK. Prove that.

None of you have. So this is why I disagree with Kendrick's line. All you people have said is that Kendrick is a better lyricist...and section 80 is etc. and GKMC is classic. And I agree with that. But none of that makes him the king of the Home of Hova. Come on mu fukkas step ya posting up.

I know. But then he has the audacity to claim king. You can't have it both ways. If he got the crown why not prove it by dissin Everybody. A King bows to no one.

kendrick is better than jay in 2013 but :dead: @ the thought of KENDRICK being king of NY over a well accomplished jay-z... i could understand if jay/nas were retired but that isnt the case...
