I remember just being blown the fukk away first time hearing it.

When it got to Mortal Man and how he incorporated that Tupac interview. I knew I was listening to an all time classic in real time. I knew Kendrick was a generational artist and someone who deserved to be considered the “voice” of his era. I knew we’d be talking about this album for years and years to come.

Been listening to early Kendrick over the past few days and it's clear Terrace Martin was already on that wave for Here, My Dear, around the OD era. I Had No Idea is notable with its progression into a jam session vibe, not unlike how TPAB was put together, love those keys during the 2nd verse. The vision was always there, just needed some time to be polished and refined.
