I cannot speak on people older than me. But I'm only 25. I have no hate for the younger guys and root for them. They are my age group. Heck, I even want Sean to win and this board hates him for some reason. bytch Don't Kill My Vibe and Money Trees will never be played out. Sing About Me was the best song of 2012. I never said what some of these guys were saying. What they are trying to get at is that, his impact seems manufactured and forced. They are used to people on the street that they interact with confirming critical acclaim. Take Care is not a classic either because it has some questionable tracks. None of these dudes are dropping albums that I can see being hailed classic 10 years from now. It's like they want to be rewarded for being better than these other basic nikkas and a having a "message". This nikka Cole said make room for new legends and then dropped Born Sinner--far from classic. And then FHD--again far from classic but was hailed as 5 out 5 on here. This is not anti-Kendrick, this is anti-settling. We have reached a point where we have lowered the bar....but we don't acknowledge it when Kendrick is involved.

Until the leadup to the album ive been reading through this entire thread page by page to have some laughs and also go back to serious discussions between you guys discussing the album.

I gotta say though good thing the poster above does not post here anymore

Oh lawd

Here we go. Get ready for a bunch of nikkas philosophizing on this lame ass album title.

"You see, To Pimp a Butterfly means a whole lot of things. On GKMC Kendrick ended the album by being wound in a coc00n with the two nikkas from the album cover of "i". Those two nikkas broke out of the coc00n and became gang bangers while Kendrick turned into a butterfly, but even though he's beautiful he still got pimped by the gang bangers and the system and the gang bangers moms titties

:mjlol: :laff: :russ: Only on page 9. Man 2 years went by fast as hell and its hilarious seeing these cocky ass posts trying to clown the album

Man conscious music is officially a dub

this shyt puttin me to sleep slime

7 tracks in and i took that shyt off and put on Future - Monster

Another dumbass post that was said in this thread. Liking or not liking the album is one thing.

But dudes talking about "conscious music is officially a dub" sums up the garbage mindset some people have. I never get guys who complain about conscious music. Its like these dudes wanna listen to music that gets them hype 2/7 and have no diversity to them, Life is just clubs, thinking is too much.

Listened again a few days ago. Amazing album. I think the second half especially elevates the album from being pretty good to stellar.

Ahmed/Big Business said something interesting on twitter last week. I'm paraphrasing but he said so much of the narrative about the album was about how "black" the album is and that resulted in another narrative being overlooked: this is the work of a creative struggling with addiction and mental illness (depression). When you listen to that last These Walls verse it's like wow...dude is haunted by demons in his past and can't let them go.

TDE/the media/Kendrick/etc do a very good job of hiding the fact that he's basically a borderline alcoholic. If you've seen that video of him rapping Wayne songs from last year in the studio...that's not a one time thing. Breh has demons.

Album started of REAL slow. Never could get into the King Kunta and For Free. Second half is phenomenal though.

Blacker The Berry
Momma
U Ain't Gotta Lie
Mortal Man
Hood Politics
How Much A Dollar Cost

I agree. The second half is definitely better than the first.

Is all this true? If so kind of shows again how unusual Kendrick is.

He had no desire to smoke weed again after his first time trying it as a kid it was laced but decided to be an alcoholic? :dahell:
