Even if that is what was intended, I'm not going speculate.

Its not speculation.

-He starts off by saying

Let me tell you why I'm a hypocrite.

Talks about racial discrimination

-Ends the song with

But gang violence makes me a hypocrite.

That's basically "what about black on black crime: The Song"

that last line is somewhat different from the black on black crime fallacy. Anybody who suggest otherwise is stupid. He's talking in first person, if you never gang banged and kill people why would you have a problem with it?
yeah I don't get why people in this thread think Kendrick is saying all blacks are hypocrites.

Not feeling this. Kendrick is a gimmick now. He is dead to me.

This track is not "clever". It shows signs of self hate and subtle affirmation of the system.

Check out the writings of Frantz Fanon...

It's great that we can have a song that sparks discussion. The downside, however, is when we pick a part the artist (not the song) because of an agenda. Ever since that article came out, there's been some crusade to paint Kendrick as a c00n. Now this song comes out, and people are flipping one line to support that. This is getting ridiculous. He's discussing something serious here and people want to make a joke and a mockery out of it.

We complain about lack of substance, but when the songs are released, then we get childish. Call a rapper a c00n because you don't agree with what they are saying, yet claim to be Pro-Black while turning up your nose at other Blacks. Then want to act militant, but want act as in being active in activities that actually promote Blackness and awareness outside of a forum.
lol yeah. Hate on our greatest artists and bump Chief Keef brehs.

i don't know if you guys are honestly this obtuse of if its a selective process in order to defend and applaud y'all favorite artists.

the killing of black bodies at the hands of black hands is not justifiable nor understandable, though somewhat explainable considering how disenfranchised the black community at large is, its an issue that needs tackling.

the killing of black bodies at the hands of white hands, specifically hands that are supposed to support, serve and protect (cops are public servants), killings which are made "legal" by systems designed with white supremacy at their core are not justifiable, understandable nor explainable. the issues can be addressed separately, even though the latter only contributes to black people feeling ever so more disenfranchised and targets for systematic oppression which then have an effect on the former issue.

anyway, the point is, being "more" vocal about the latter than the former doesn't make you a hypocrite.

I don't disagree with that at all. But what makes you a hypocrite is the following:

...though somewhat explainable considering how disenfranchised the black community at large is....

Yes our people have been disenfranchised but we have to stop justifying our issues as people solely on that disenfranchisement.

Question: why do you never hear about white people throwing other white people under the bus when black people do something violent to white people?

Let me clarify. If 2 black dudes rob a store and kill 2 white employees. Why do you never hear white people respond with: "Well, what about all the white cops that kill unarmed blacks"

"What about all the school shootings that whites do"

Why does this never happen?
But what do black folks say on the flip side" what about black on black crime" :stopitslime:

Kendrick's interpretation doesn't apply to them, you or myself. The problem is that a lot of you in here believe that he's talking about the average square nikka like us being emotional over Trayvon's/Mike murders. He says "So why did I weep when Trayvon Martin was in the street, when gang-banging made ME kill a nikka last week". He's talking about himself. He's not calling us hypocrites.I don't see how y'all don't see this.

Word. He's talking to all these nikkas out here killing each other everyday. I don't know why these square nikkas online feel like he's talking to them. He's not. I'm black too but I know he's wasn't talking to me because obviously I've never shot anybody.

He's never shot anybody. Yet he claims the hypocrite is him. He's talking about the race as a whole. Not just gangbangers.
