Album is probably going to do insane numbers the next two-three weeks.

Then it'll proceed to have strong staying power - plenty of these songs are the type that will grow on people.

That's what a lot of these artists don't have in their catalog because they have so many songs that sound like everyone else's.

Very similar to the GKMC effect with some of that album's biggest anthems not really being the main singles, but they are major records at concerts as well as events Kendrick is not even a part of officially.

Again, insane album.

I miss section 80 and gkmc kendrick

I'll have to run this back again

I know I'm just hearing surface now

I do miss the conventional hip hop... less artsty song structure

more use of metaphors and punchlines, and less poetic lyricism

Hold out for Nas and Hit.

I hear you but I disagree. This is what he does best IMO. No one in the mainstream is willing to distance themselves from their perception and reputation like Kendrick, who is unabashably unapologetic about what he wants to deliver each time out, even if the execution is not perfect. Otherwise he would keep rehashing GKMC and TPAB.

Sounwave is top 5 to me the last decade.

Innovative, hits, musicality, originality (it's difficult to imitate his style), music with feeling, etc. over literally 10 years.

Does not get his flowers enough.

Agreed. This is only missing Terrace Martin, who sadly walked away from rappers. His musical compositions are genius.

This is Kendrick’s therapy session. It’s not the album I was expecting. I have no qualms. Happy he’s letting us hear his healing process.

I give it a 3/5. It’s good he’s talking about different subjects but nothing makes me want to revisit something of these songs.

Ghostface :wow:
