They hated probably cuz of how is voice was...:yeshrug:

nikkas in here actually deleted the song on their version of the album..:what:

That's like ripping out a chapter of the story...:wtf:

Replace backseat freestyle with Cartoons and Cereal and it fits perfectly.

Backseat freestyle gets alot of shade...

But it fits the structure of the album. It definitely represents what he thought what hip-hop was supposed to be at that time in his life. It sounds like he freestyled it without any thought as to what he was saying. Care free like the life he was living in the story.

I completely understand why it's there, still don't enjoy the track though.

Yup. It's a 17 year old freestyling in the backseat of his friends car to a beat CD one of his friends made while they're on their way to do some dumb shyt.

what a coincidence, the story of the album is set when he was 17

I know. It fits the story perfectly for what Kendrick's mind was like at that time; how his demeanor was when around his friends and it leads perfectly to the Art of Peer Pressure.

Reminded me of some shyt people would say during lunch just fukking around when every other line was about bytches...

Just got back from giving it the whip test. Backseat Freestyle is a fun ass song. That shyt knocks and it's my current favorite track on the album. I'm gonna include Cartoons & Cereal on the EP I'm gonna make when all the leaks come out. I'm not trying to hear Gunplay murk Kendrick every time I listen to the album.

So the list of songs we're waiting for are:

Swimming Pools Remix
The Recipe Remix
Collect Calls
County Building Blues

Did I miss any?

From what i've seen/heard in this thread and in casual talk is "the beat is all over the place" :youngsabo:

Lyrical content ...his voice....:deadrose:

Like I said it served it's purpose...and then some. Still agree that this would kill at a live show...especially a college or club venue.

It's a time capsule within an album of what hip hop was to his generation.
