I don’t know where ya’ll getting this “Kendrick had to compromise with GKMC” take from when thats literally the album he planned to make since he was 17-18 years old right down to the album cover.

Kendrick is one of the very few rap artists who haven’t had to compromise much , if at all on their creative vision, which is one of the reasons he made his way to the “big 3” of his generation and eventually surpassed everyone. Drake and his writers had to compromise on Thank Me Later. Cole famously had to compromise on Sideline Story to the extent he put made both Work Out and Can’t Get Enough under duress of being shelved indefinitely. Artists like Big Krit and Wale had to compromise so heavily it altered the trajectory of their careers. Kendrick was afforded MAJOR leeway by being insulated in the TDE camp and having Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine believe in him to the point where commercial songs like The Recipe were passed over for something like Swimming Pools and collabs with Lady Gaga were scrapped to allow him to do his thing and work with the likes of MC Eiht and Anna Wise.

Kendrick is basically the Prince of modern day rappers, where artistically he can do whatever he wants and the only thing he ever had to fight for was stuff like release dates and marketing.
I'm pretty sure there was discussion around that when TPAB actually dropped.

You're taking this as me doubting Kendrick's creative license when that's not the case, I'm simply saying that had to be earned to a degree. In 2011/12 TDE itself wasn't a powerhouse insulating Kendrick. The GKMC singles are commercially strong after The Recipe which itself was on brand for the rest of the album.

Despite his antics, the Game knows going directly at Kendrick would end badly for him which is why even when he was not-so-secretly rooting for Drake he was careful not to completely jump to the left. I don’t think Game want them kind of problems with Top Dawg.

Kendrick literally got the entire West Coast rap community in his corner. Game NEVER had that kind of pull even in his commercial prime and I think he recognizes where he stands in that pecking order. It more than likely pisses him off deep down inside but he has no choice but to roll with it.
Game did deserve that treatment but his clown antics held him back i feel. He lowkey made dissing gunit his career for a long time and people got tired of it.

It's hard to take him serious when he's photo shopping his ass on Instagram and posting pictures of some random little girl acting like her father.

The Heart Part 6 sounds like it was produced by Johnny J and would have been on pre deathrow 2pac album

:blessed:
That beat was the Neptunes first major production for SWV back in ‘96. In my opinion still their best production. Makes me wonder what they would have sounded like if they hadn’t leaned into the Superthug success
