Or when Nas put Ether on Stillmatic?

fukk outta here :what:

You cant compare different eras like this.

An album is one of the few tools artists had to reach their fans back then. Outside of this, you had radio, performances, media / press, etc.

Today you have the internet, where you can reach your fans (and everyone else) by just posting your music online. There's no reason to put your diss on an album today unless you want your album to benefit from the attention and streams from the controversy of the diss.

This is an interesting case because its almost the exact reversal of the Black Slim Shady situation.

Game is generally a black sheep in the industry and consequently, the industry immediately shut down the diss as clout chasing when it dropped with Drillmatic - and many critics even gave it disingenuous reviews saying it was a poor diss (when it was clearly well crafted).

You can argue Game felt he was the better protege with Dre picking Em over him for the SuperBowl, similar to how Kendrick feels like he doesnt belong in the Big 3, and instead hes above the other two rappers.

Now you have Kendrick whos the golden child of the industry, who may allegedly diss Drake on his album, who is pretty mixed with the industry right now...its going to be real interesting if people can keep the same energy and call it what it is - clout chasing.

Kendrick is more praised nowadays than Game, they look at him as a attention seeker but if they’re familiar with him he doesn’t shy away from rap beef. Kendrick hasn’t really been battle tested so it’s gonna be interesting to see how he replies back. Drake has been in battle mode but he also took a hit with the Pusha beef. So he might have a heads up on how to handle it.

I think Kendrick drops the diss with visuals next week, if not on Sunday. Any longer than that is pushing it but he's not gonna back down. Both these dudes legacies are on the line

It's true. Drake is Starbucks. That concept is foreign to you because you digest whatever the radio tells you to....like you actually think either of these guys are cold lol especially drake though. Kendrick atleast can flow better and makes more sonically interesting shyt. But Drake makes music my 12 year old sister likes. Thats a problem.

You and my 12 year old sister have the same favorite rapper. Thats an issue lol.

Btw morons...its only been 6 days since the leak.

Kendrick Lamar putting a diss song on an album being called clout chasing is hilarious

Dude took 5 years off and people still anticipated his last album and still got the rap world’s attention with a verse
