Tdot.. till the death of me
Respect to Kendrick for this

I think Its Dark and Hell is Hot was the first album I purchased as a kid as well...

so I can definately relate

but if DMX actually sh!tted on Kendrick, I wonder if he'd still show respect.

You will accomplish more, when you study the ones before you, and pay homage in your own way.

Thread seems kind of backwards to me...younger rappers typically don't ever do shyt but heap tons of praise on older rappers they came up on...it's a well established hip hop cliche...I can't think of a single solitary young rapper that has called dmx a crackhead or spoken ill of him...wayne, mgk, and now kendrick have all publicly praised him as a legend or an influence as of late...in almost every case (there are the occasional exceptions )of an elder rapper getting into some kind of conflict with a younger, newer rapper it's because of the old rapper randomly starting it...by either reaching at some nonexistent perceived slight, to blatantly just throwing shots for not no legitimate reason...in the specific case of dmx there's definitely a deficit of basic respect between him and younger rappers...but it's coming all from his side

This just reminds me of the last time a young up and coming rapper gave props to an OG in the game... :ohhh:

Canibus- J. Clone (J. Cole Diss) - YouTube

:krs:

Canibus popped sh!t and apologized to Cole. Funny you bring him up cause during the whole LL drama. Canibus was the new lion coming up and LL the Vet was actually being disrespectful to him. Though "2nd Round K.O." is Classic, I wished he never beefed with LL. Mainly cause sometimes LL can be Cocky, even Meth and Red said that but the whole thing ended up hurting Canibus Career and he was banished to the underground for life. We needed a real lyrical cat like Canibus in the Mainstream. The whole thing was sad. Later LL would admit that Canibus "Inspired him" translation "Beat him", Canibus is the only n!gga to get LL on wax, he's pretty much beaten everyone else. When I was younger though I did side with Canibus cause I felt LL was being a bully but L did rip him on 4,3,2,1 verse.

Explain Nicki Minaj? Calling older female rappers "Time Machine B!tches". She has been disrecpectful to the 10th Degree. When Lil Kim dropped, she did this song called "Ladies Night" which brought all the female emcees together. What has Nicki done to show unity and show her respect for others that paved the way for her? Now the X thing and Drake, Yes doesn't like Drake but the Aaliyah thing pushed him over the edge. He had a strong personal relationship with her. If Drake respected his elders, he would of reached out to Timbaland and Missy before he even laid a damn vocal.

Lil Kim at the beginning of her career bring all the ladies together

Lil Kim doing videos with Salt and Pepa during the Junior Mafia era

That's Homage!

Basically. If you were born in the late 80's, chances are you really started getting into Hip Hop in the late 90's. A lot of 24/25 year olds first albums were either No Way Out, Mase first album, or DMX first album.

Or Outkast, etc....why do u limit the 3 influential records for late 80's babies to strictly NY records? You know how many people in that age group around my way had No Limit CD's, Outkast, Cash Money, Trick Daddy, etc.? Take that subconscious NY elitist sentiment elsewhere.

Cause rappin is a young man's game..I know it's fukked up...but who wants to listen to an old ass rapper?? Rock folks can do that for some reason... Maybe ish'll change one day

it will change. the genre itself is barely in its 40's so we havent had a chance to have a geezer culture yet. we will though for sure
