I'm gonna have to disagree, I think this verse in Black Boy Fly is one of the most affecting verses, I've heard in a long time. He tackled the biggest things affecting the Black community in one shot.

My mama didn't raise me up to be jealous hearted
Like most of the winners call it
Regardless of where you stay, hold your head and continue marching
That's what she said but in my head I wanted to be like Jordan
A boy touring the country with money from mic recording
The only way out the ghetto, you know the stereotype
Shooting hoops or live on the stereo like top forty
And shortly, I got discouraged
Like every time I walked to the corner had them guns bursting
nikka, I was rehearsing in repetition the phrase
Only one in a million will ever see better days
Especially when the crime waves was bigger than tsunamis
Break your boogie boards to pieces you just a typical homie
All these nikkas facetious and they all standing beside me
They all will buy me a chopper if any one of you try me
What am I to do when every neighborhood is an obstacle
When two nikkas making it out had never sounded logical
Three nikkas making it out, that's mission impossible
So I never believed the type of performance that I can do
I wasn't jealous 'cause of the talents they got
I was terrified they'll be the last black boys to fly
Out of Compton

he tackles, yet says nothing impressive. Which is why you're posting the entire verse.

I could pick a line from there at random and it'll be mediocre as fukk

Look I know you are a fan of ASAP Rocky and I couldn't convince you get into a rapper you will never like, I get it, he's being touted as a GOAT rapper too early and with this I agree. I liked GKMC, thought it was a solid album. I loved TPAB because while some people thought it was overproduced. I liked that Dr. Dre and the producers actually took the West Coast sound scape and modernized it for 2015. I liked that I took more out of it in multiple listens. I liked that the overarching statements he was trying to make and I even think your criticism is fair. My issue is you is that if you hate Kendrick Lamar so much, then why stan ASAP whose has a lot of similar characteristics. It just doesn't make sense to me. Why talk about Kendrick being force fed like ASAP is a product of the streets, like he wasn't handed over some dope beats and made to be the poster boy for #newblacks. I still can't believe a man named after Rakim could be such a mediocre lyricist, you take away those dope beats and ASAP Rocky is just a homunculus in skinny jeans and designer hoodies.

There's nothing GOAT about Kendrick. There's nothing GOAT about Rocky either.

Yet NO ONE on Rocky's side is pretending like he's the greatest rapper ever. Kendrick, his team and stans are actually putting that insulting bullshyt out there.

How so?

:deadrose:

were you just watching Full Metal Alchemist or some shyt? random word right there.

Besides, Rocky has the best flow of the new school. By far. It's not even close. People have rhymed on Clams Casino before and sounded like total shyt. Kendrick would sound like total shyt on those beats too. Rocky has a better voice than ANYONE rapping in the last 5 years or more, and he has a strong sense of rhythm. He knows how to approach a beat, even if he aint saying shyt on it.

It's super disingenuous to pretend like the only thing Rocky has going for him are beats and fashion. I always wonder: are these commenters even listening to the music? Or they're so busy concentrating on his dress with Timbs?

Actually I was one of the few people that genuinely liked ASAPs first album but I think he regressed on the second one, the production was great on both albums but I though he relied heavily on the production something was missing. You can't hold a dudes marketing against him, you got people who have been Kendrick Stans on here and SOHH going back to maybe 2009-2010. If someone think he's a GOAT and I don't that's doesn't affect him. I'm just saying ASAP has a machine behind him too, and as to this new wave of rappers, I think Kendrick, School Boy Q, Charles Hamilton (at times) and Ab-Soul are all better rappers. ASAP has a nice flow but I don't think there is any weight to his lyrics, I think there is weight to Kendrick though maybe not as much as his earlier stuff.

Rocky's first album was the beginning of him falling the fukk off. That shyt sucked. He regressed there so I'm not surprised he regressed even further on the 2nd album. And from the looks of a recent article talking about a full album with Danger Mouse, it looks like he's gonna regress into oblivion.

There's no intellectual weight to Rocky's lyrics (something I used to lament deeply)

and there's also no intellectual weight to Kendrick's lyrics.

Rocky has nowhere near the machine Kendrick has.

my opinion @SirBiatch is that you don't like hip hop music

I know some dudes that think they hip hop fans but to them it's all about the beat
to you it's about something else...

Are you a young thug fan? No shade, really asking, I don't know.
