Doing 1500 capacity shows and releasing GKMC 2 in order to create some buzz. Releasing diss tracks to beg for attention. He went to both Toronto shows. Which is why I said at the time - and largely still think - they're cool. But it's always gonna be competition. If not for Takeover, Jay and Nas would have kept trading subs. By multiple accounts, they actually spoke and were cordial before the Jay diss dropped. Being cool doesn't mean you don't throw jabs in rap. And frankly the fact that he only sends them at Kendrick - not Cole - tells us a loooot about who he sees as his competition.
The last time Drake publicly spoke about Kendrick he said there is mutual respect but he also said something very interesting to me.
He basically set down another gauntlet: who will still be around post-2010? Cole dropped in 2021 and proved he was still the guy. And Kendrick did the same last year. I don't get the impression either of them is gonna struggle to be relevant any time soon. And obviously Drake is still Drake, no matter how many times the Coli tries to slander him. That Search & Rescue song is still charting btw....for all the people who said it flopped.
