she said from bey/bey's camp...cmon now. and we've seen plenty artist show texts, or back in the day, phone calls, getting the go ahead for samples. and yes, pharrell is not above being a petty bytch, he knows how kelis has felt slighted at the hands of bey and absolutely would be one to sign off on having one of her biggest songs get hivewashed by beyonce.

and please don't play into the writing thing, one, we know how easy it is to get a writing credit (telling someone to use the word love instead of above gets a writing credit) and also how easy it is to finesse a writing credit as a producer and label head (diddy taught us that), kelis is credited as a writer all over ALL her albums, both with and after the neptunes. i don't even get into writing arguments as they're one that can't be proven

She said Pharrell never wrote a song or lyric in his life which is one of the most absurd statements you could make. Come on. I know you a Kelis fan which is cool but you can't act like that statement is not ridiculous

EDIT: apparently she was talking about Pharrell's manager, who was also her manager, far as getting writing credits while not writing anything. But this ain't true, you can pull up the songs on BMI or ASCAP, the only credited writers on the singles for those albums are Pharrell and Chad.

She got songwriting credits on three songs on her first album and nine on the second. The track in question, she got no writing credit on it. And the sample is almost imperceptible, if you took it out it hardly even impact the song. You think Beyoncé's camp personally reached out to every single artist who was sampled on the album even if they had no writing credits or publishing rights?

there are 16 tracks on this album and it looked like (from the TL at least) maybe 8 had samples. yes, her camp could reach out - copy & pasting an email 8 times takes all of 5 minutes from some intern. it's especially a courtesy to another singer who was once a contemporary of yours...cmon now, they was in the same circles at one time.

She’s very mad Beyonce didn’t call her :dahell:

Shorty it’s not that serious. Beyonce got the shyt cleared by Pharrell and credited you on the album. Why you so tight she ain’t hit you up? “Calling her crib and she ain’t even give you her number:scust:

Seems like the crux of her issue with Beyonce is that she wanted to be friends or some shyt

Ex Mrs. GOAT is tripping. She might get a few bucks at the end of the day but the respect, the whole thing she's mad about, not happening after this.

I can respect that someone could and probably should have reached out from the Beyonce team as professional courtesy but bottom line is a Beyonce album is a project that's expected to generate tens of millions of dollars and first priority on the sample side is dot the i's and cross the t's legally, make sure you don't get sued

But saying Pharrell has never written a song or lyric in his life is the definition of delusional. Dude literally broke into the business as a nobody by co-writing a massive hit, most his beats he composed either by himself or with Chad and he's written or co-written some of the biggest hits of the last 25 years

You'd actually want to listen to her voice? That singing voice or that speaking voice?
:hhh:

Yep, always thought she was talented, I'm guessing you think she got with Neptunes by sleeping with Fareal...

Her personality was colorful from the start so no argument there but at the same time there's a whole thread on Beyonces robotic ways so that's not something that matters to me, don't personally know these broads

Strictly as far as vocal singing tone inflections whatever you wanna call it I prefer Kelis between them two, just more original sounding... :manny:

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
She thinks this was done intentionally to spite her, as though anyone involved with a Beyonce album in 2022 is thinking "know what, let's sample this shyt from 23 years ago just to fukk with Kelis"

Who she expect the heads up from? The Neptunes? You publicly shyt on the dudes who wrote every note and lyric of the original track and expect them to reach out as a courtesy?

Second video she talking about Pharrell never wrote a song or lyric in his life which is just straight up hilarious
Yea I’m glad people can see and point out how much of a delusional liar this chick is. Lol. That’s literally a flat out lie.
