Maybe he did that to have an excuse in case he didn't win. One time plays that psychological game pretty well.

to play devils advocate, every person is different. some fighters have nervous energy. some fighters will be out running at that time, thats not necessarily good either. you have to do what is relaxing to you and that is what he was doing. if he was nervous, lying in the bed and not being able to sleep may have done him worse. I just dont think that had much if anything to do with why he lost.
