How? He clearly is going to get close to a max offer anywhere else he goes. If the spurs were willing to pay him the max why wouldn’t any other team take that as a sign he still can play?
This is the nba not the nfl. The lockeroom is too small. If you have a player who wants out, as a way to save your lockeroom and the image of your team you trade him.

Spurs still have the leverage. Pop and RC weren't trading Aldridge cause they couldn't get good value.

If they can't get what they want, they aren't moving him immediately. This isn't Cleveland.

Thats exactly what i said

Spurs HATE the Lakers

They would never do them any favors.

Thats just wishful thinking. Kawhi is going east. Probably to a crap team too like atlanta or charlotte.

I just saw the hawks have the 3rd pick. That right there is enough for kawhi. Spurs not going to send him to a team with possibility of success anytime soon.

Kawhi playing in SA come training camp is more likely than the Hawks or Hornets getting him.

LA signed a max deal. And years left on the deal. These are two different cases. The closest comparison to this situation is Kyrie Irving and he had 2 years left on his deal.
If you see he clearly doesn’t want to play in your city, will leave at the end of the season and you are going to get nothing for him why wouldn’t you trade him now to get something in return?

Aldridge had 1 year left on the deal with a player option during his fiasco too

Here's what you gotta remember This isn't Cleveland. Spurs don't make trades. Once Pop actually talks to Kahwi face to face, all will be hashed. If not, then they will just lose him for nothing. Remember, this is the Spurs. THEY KNOW HOW TO DRAFT

If they dont do shyt by draft night then nothing is gonna happen over the summer. Gonna be the Aldridge situation all over again. Pop gonna sit there on his desk with a glass of wine and tell Kawhi and his group "your move". :russ:

Exactly. Too many teams just panic when a player wants to leave. I can't see the Spurs doing this. That's how the Cavs messed up. could have let Kyrie play this season. He would have gotten knee surgery, realized that he may not get a max deal in free agency and realized Bron may leave. He would have had the keys to the franchise. Now CAvs about to lose Bron and Irving. JUST STUPID. Kahwi ain't passing up a 200 million dollar max. I don't care what the reports say. Just watch July 1st hit and the first headline reads....

Kahwi Leonard signs $218 million supermax

They would have to renounce the rights to riddikk in order to sign bron, plus trade Covington but that line up is raw

Pop was covering up alot of bullshyt...

I don't think he had any solid communication with kawhi..

I think word got around that he was basically holding out and the team pressed him..

That's why he got irritated...

He could have played but the uncle wanted to make sure he got the bag 1st...

It's supermax time and now he ready to go:heh:

The spurs got specialists from all over the world and no one could find anything wrong..:manny:
Blazers had specialist with Oden. Celtics with IT.... 76ers etc

Point is teams fukk up. Players should never go off a team doc opinion without their own doctor

Spurs ain't doing lakers no favors trading them kawhi

Spurs hate the lakers. Kawhi is probably going east more than likely. Probably to some crap team like Atlanta to ruin his career cuz the spurs nasty like that.

Makes no sense for us to trade for Kawhi. We're not in win now mode and damn sure aint about to trade no young assets for someone who's leaving after a year.

I think most of the crap teams are gonna be in this boat. Will be interesting to see what the Spurs do.

Aldridge was never getting the same money on the free agent market the Spurs are currently paying him. At his age, this is his last big contract. He did what was best for his bank account. It just so happened it made him choose to stay.
Kwahi has 2 max deals left.

This is a franchise that has missed the playoffs 4 times in 41 years.

They obviously nearly missed it this year with 47 wins.
