I'd say its possible Kawhi started this in a way. Maybe he just didn't like certain things about the organization and instead of working it out, his uncle was like "fukk them nikkas" and has pushed him to request a trade.

Can't forget the shoe contract angle too tho. There was rumors he was getting low ball offers. In LA he'd definitely get more money, and his uncle was probably in here ear about that too. The money they walk away from in SA they might feel they can make it up in LA. Even as a low key dude they'll find a way to market him out here. Billboards all over the city, etc
