Kawhi's defense hasn't been consistently elite for 2-3 seasons now because of all the energy he conserves for the offensive end. Same would apply to MJ if he was in the league today.

It’s all basic fundamentals all the way down to the Jumper.

Defense is where he shines though. Him, Jimmy, and Klay are probably the best 2 way guards/wings in this generation.
