Jordan, LeBron, Wade, Kobe, Duncan, Hakeem, McGrady, Pierce, Melo and plenty of others.

Obviously you want better players and role players are indeed less reliable, that's why they are role players. However, when they step up and make those shots consistently and take all the defensive pressure off the star for an entire playoff run we can't just try to act like they played like typical role players.

three of those names fit the criteria, and you've already brought two of them up. unless you're talking about a single player carrying a team of roleplayers to 20-40 wins and no ring :leon:. there are no 'plenty of others'. whenever a gm has tried the strategy of one star w/ roleplayers, it has failed miserably.

yes, the fukk they did act like typical roleplayers, because they did their job. they were brought on to do exactly that and to complement dirk, their franchise player. what do you want to call them, all stars?

If all role players stepped up like that and took pressure off the superstar like that then more of those guys would have 50-60 win, championship seasons without another star. Dirk didn't do anything plenty of others, including himself, haven't done in plenty of seasons (wasn't even his best run). The most notable difference was the role players stepping up and playing at such a high level so consistently (while stars on other teams played beneath their normal levels). How bout just call them champions that stepped up and played like it? :ld:

Dirk was considered 'soft' for the longest ... not sure what youre talking about

and Dirk was 'ALWAYS' quick to throw teammates under the bus? WTF you talking about?
Please show me 5 instances where Dirk threw a teammate under the bus. You said he always did it so 5 should be easy.

If those guys were on Duncan's level then Nash, Finley, and Kidd were on Dirk's.

I meant mostly robinson the time they had together, manu and parker alone are better than nay sidekick dirk had other than the time with nash?

Robinson was a shell of himself during most of their time together and Duncan has played the overwhelming majority of his career without him. I am taking prime Michael Finley over Manu or Parker. You said he never had players on that level when he clearly did.

Man Dirk had stacked teams for years. The difference was the two teams he took to the finals were no where near as stacked as the teams he had before when he was younger.

Dirk is a great offensive player. But let's not act like Finley wasn't guarding Staudimire in that suns series the year Nash left. Let's not act like Dirk was not calling out Damp for not playing good defense on Staudimire but Avery had to put Finley to guard old boy once Damp got in foul trouble yet Dirk wouldn't step up to guard him.

Then once they were eliminated Dirk called out Damp and the teams intelligence saying that Nash took all the basketball IQ with him once he left for the suns.

Kareem is my personal GOAT, but he's wrong. I agree that Dirk was never a great defender but he was a solid rebounder and his scoring ability is elite considering how few touches he has in some games. I mean as it stands now Dirk is probably in the top 25 of all time players.

Still had an amazing playoff run in his championship season. Dirk probably had the least stacked championship team of the last 15 years.

I would say that the mavs team that beat Miami was short on stacked talent like that Detroit team that beat LA.

True he was one of the greatest scorers who has ever played the game. He was also a very good defensive rebounder. He was also one of the worst offensive rebounders I have ever seen. He just didn't give a fukk about offensive rebounding. That still doesnt take away from him being a great player.
