To be fair Kareem like Wilt calls / called out all big men who they believed could have been better if they added certain aspects to their game.

That is just how them dudes were. Kareem and Wilt have called out many great big men over the years on holes in their game. shyt Kareem talked for years how Shaq should have learned the hook shot (due to his broken wrist) and not use so much power and force and that it would extend his career.

Jokers on here just act sensitive whenever Dirk is talked about in a not so good light. But if Lebron and Kobe who are probably top 10 players can be called out (and who played both ends of the court) then surely Dirk can be called out as well.
wilt thought george muresan was more talented than shaq :upsetfavre:

And where did that get KG? Dirk's front office blew it time and time again. Fact is, scoring > everything, especially when you have a guy that can score on his own in crunch time. That is the reason Dirk could be a cornerstone for a contender without major all stars, and KG could not.

People act like Magic or bird didnt have flaws. :rudy:

All these guys do is nitpick modern players, but bring up anything about the past, and the same ole lines come out "it was a different era" :whoa: "they werent asked to do those sorts of things":whoa:

In the postseason, dirk's rebounding or defense was never why they lost.

kareem's rebounding numbers are drastically inflated by the era he was in. Stop it.

He played in the best era's all time.
Dirk played in the low IQ era,..

These new nikkaz don't be hoop'n breh.
They would have gotten destroyed, by the old guard that Kareem played in.
As a matter of fact, Kareem and his ucla would have beat most of these jokers.

Depends on what your definition of a superstar is...

Like...people say this guy is the best player in the league...where physically...he can't even do some of the stuff a 30 year old wearing down Lebron can still do...

not to derail the thread but when it comes to players it has always struck me as funny as how the criteria changes...

Like...every game GS plays it's "Steph dropped 35!" "Steph hit 7 three's!" "Steph scored 38 in 3 quarters" Every regular season game he has played in the last 2 years we are all about his numbers...

Lebron drops 40 and it's "who cares he got to win a championship"...Lebron has a triple double and it's "so he needs to win a title in cleveland"...dude almost averaged a triple double in the finals and all i remember hearing is how somehow cleveland losing was his fault...every player on the heat except for him got ran off the floor against swag antonio but all i remember hearing how it was his fault and he was running back to cleveland...

One of these guys is viewed as a superstar and all we talk about is his regular season numbers...one of these guys is viewed as a superstar and all we talk about is how it doesn't matter what he does in the regular season...matter fact if he doesn't make the finals his season is a disappointment...

personally if you are the weakest defender on your team i don't see how you can be a superstar...if you can't guard your matchup in a game i don't see how you can be a superstar...if the other guard has to guard the point guard for you i don't see how you can be a superstar...

It's easy for steph to sneak diss all these players like KD and Westbrook when he not going to spend 1 second guarding either of them...that dude is going to be glued to roberson and waiters hip all game...

Fair or not, a lot of fans have become numb to LeBron's greatness because he's been so consistently dominant for a decade. Curry is relatively new. Durant was new in '14. They did and are going to get more hype for their performances and this shouldn't be a surprise.

The Warriors having to hide Curry all the time is an exaggeration, he guarded his matchup more often than not in the '15 RS. He can do so just fine aided by the Warriors help D, but it's more beneficial for the team itself to put one of their actual top per defenders who have a size advantage over the team's primary ball handler. Chris Paul got absolutely obliterated by Westbrook in the '14 PS. If the Clips had the luxury of hiding Paul against that freak of nature, they'd have excercised it. Just b/c you guard your matchup a lot doesn't mean you're more successful or impactful than a guy who does less frequently.

kareem sounding like a hater these days
Or maybe one of the top 5 players of all time recognizes that certain players, while good, could have reached an even higher level of play with their abilities.

25 and 10 career playoff numbers, while playing most of it in the toughest conference in NBA history. MVP, FMVP, two Finals appearances without an all star - he did just fine. KAreem without Magic might have been stuck at 1 ring too :francis:

And if he doesnt sprain his knee in '03, they could have won the chip. Gave Duncan 38 and 15 in game 1 :whew:
