That's all stuff they can do with their money alone or with a simple cosign that Nike won't give, high culture creative stuff is still dominated by rich white people and you need a cosign. RZA got the co-sign from Tarantino, Ludacris got that actor money and both Don King, De La Hoya and Mayweather broke down the door all the way down for 50.

Plus let's not act like some people just can't stand him anymore because of his comments about Bush and the Taylor Swift fiasco.
You think Kanye doesn't have the start up capital and connections to open a small factory, pay black designers, create an identical shoe that Nike did and have it distributed to the public on a small scale?

I mean he IS a GOD right? Sounds like a small thing to a giant to me.. :yeshrug:

Reminds me of the Killer Mike verse...

"My name is Michael Render/And we are the new Avengers
We're here to tell you all your false idols are just pretenders
They're corporation slaves indentured to all the lenders
So even if you got seven figures, you still a nikka"

That's why when people talk about Jay owning 1/10 of a percentage of an NBA team or being the front for a CAA Sports agency as sometype of win for black business I laugh...

I would rather see a Black man own 100% of a $500,000 enterprise than .5% of a billion dollar one...

Stop getting caught up with names like Nike, Gucci and Apple and create your own vision independently....Be No Limit Records...Period even if it fails...Not Jimmy Iovine and Warner Present "No Limit Records"

Get what I'm sayin?

Rappers not wanting to be like BIG
What rappers are out here saying they want to be Big? All these nikkas besides Drake corny ass wants to be Pac. nikkas bit his image, lyrics and beats more than any other rap artist ever. Even the Camel couldn't resist using some of Pac's shyt and Pac dissed his ass.

If only Kanye was as passionate about finding a solution to the genocide occurring in Chicago amongst Blacks as he is about Leather Sweat Pants maybe people would take him serious.

he seems narcissistic...thats a legit disorder.

Self- believe and confident is not narcissistic ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE PROVEN YOURSELF RIGHT WITH EVERY CLAIM YOU HAVE MADE. KANYE HAS ALWAYS BACKED HIS WORDS UP.

nope. stop dikkriding the man. if his interviews werent filled with outlandish and borderline satirical quotes and ideologies people wouldnt clown his much. Placing him on the same pedestal of political and social activist such as MLK, etc is downright laughable. MLK stood for the african American race, Kanye stands for himself and is using the ideas of racism and classism to make the issues larger than life. At the end of the day, Kanye thinks its a race and class issue that white designers wont embrace his fashion sense, smh and yall buying into it. If Fendi or whoever actually embraces Kanye's fasion ideas you wouldnt hear a peep from him about race and class. Im a HUGE fan of the dude's music but his manipulation of real issues for his own personal benefit is disgusting. Dude has the resources and popularity to start his own shyt and compete from the ground up but he rather bytch about these so-called racist and stubborn designers not recognizing him.

"it's about the unwillingness to even engage Kanye, the impulse to dismiss his energy as outright narcissism and vanity"

you're proving the point

No I am not. Mainly because he didn't write this article and I am writing off the author, not Kanye. I buy his albums and enjoy his music quite a bit. I just have no time to read someone try to spin his ego by trying to compare him to Ray Charles or Michael Jackson when neither one ever pulled the antics he has to boast for self.

people choose different things to be passionate about, if you're expecting a musician to be the hero who rises up and saves the people in Chicago who have dedicated their lives to killing each other, you're just being unrealistic

why do you expect kanye to save the world? what's wrong with you?

he's a creative. he went to art school. And because of his skin color his ability to create is often mocked and dismissed. that's the point. shut up about the ills of something he has little to do with

STFU

Outlandish and borderline satirical? Oh yeah, because Kanye isn't a Grammy award winner many times over, critically acclaimed musician, with super successful ventures in Fashion and Art.
