I just came in here to say Kanye West isn't a fashion icon to Black inner city youth...Maybe he is in other communities, but I can only speak on the environment that I'm around most..The stuff he wears isn't accessible, affordable or practical... Stop letting these culture vulture Euro Cacs and Black elitists rewrite our history..

I'm everywhere they ain't never there

* heads out to East Baltimore for a street hoops tournament

Yall be easy...

This to me is one of the realest things said in this thread. I have college age (and some high school) kids coming into my pharmacy all the time because we are smack in the middle of a University and a well known private College and I don't see much if any at all of Kanyes fashion influence in how they dress black, white, hispanic or any race for that matter.

I still don't get the Kanye is a fashion icon talk...I just don't see it. But, more power to the man and congrats on the GQ cover.

I know a lot of you cats cant dress for shyt, (i love ya'll, but) the coli is full of country bamma nikkas who have no idea what fashion is(I see them club pics nikkas be postin :russ:), which is why you see so many dumb/ignorant post in this thread. I know a lot of cats on here don't live next to or in fashion forward cities.

I think a lot of you guys are getting dressing well and fashion mixed up, they are not the same.

Kanye is a fashion icon period. Seems like you guys don't know how much he has influenced urban/hip-hop fashion. You can say you don't fukk with him or whatever but the fact is it's a trickle down effect, whether you like it or not, dude changed the game. You have to accept that.

By the way,

I personally don't consider Kanye to be a fashion icon and think his look borders on basic/ridiculous.
But there are people who think otherwise.

It's still pretty cool to be on the cover of GQ Magazine.
If Kanye isn't a fashion icon then there is no such thing

I'm trying to tell you dupes:

http://www.gq.com/entertainment/celebrities/201408/kanye-west

When you said what you said last year about the fashion industry and your frustration with it, did your phone ring after that?

It did move the needle. Only positive came from it. Maybe I'm not as good friends as I could have been with the Saint Laurent designer. And now I don't get the red-and-black versions of the white-and-black pants that are in stores, or whatever I would have got as a musician. But other than that, that communication was real. Alexander Wang made sure that I was able to go to a Balenciaga show, and I was never allowed to do that before because I was a celebrity. Listen to what I'm saying—me, as Kanye West: I guarantee you, I'm more than 50 percent responsible for every men's shoe that they sell. Me, the singular person. More than 50 percent responsible for every Balenciaga shoe they sell. And they would say, "You can't come to the show, because you are a celebrity." But all honesty, no ego, I have a level of influence, and I have a level of respect for the designers. And we move product on that Barneys floor.
