A common symptom of schizophrenia is believing that people are following you, or that the CIA wants to recruit you, or that the president has a secret plan for you. That doesn't mean that stalkers and the CIA and the president don't exist. The fact that delusions are a common symptom of mental illness has nothing to do with psychologically healthy people who actual experience the real thing.
