Are ppl dressing and sounding like Dre?

:dahell:

Dr Dre is the godfather of gangster rap. What kind of question is that? Even Alonzo Williams said the gang structure in LA really took off after NWA, which seeps into the influence of Bloods and Crips spreading all across America. And all of this happened before Kanyes debut album.

We're supposed to extrapolate all that from figures off of a single website? I mean, we do have ears n eyes as well lol. Are ppl dressing and sounding like Dre?

Im definitely not seeing the bolded, but have at it

People used that whole "dressing and sounding like" argument as well as the "more modern" argument for Dipset before the Verzuz with The Lox. We see how that went. Nobody is going to care about who influenced how they dressed in a match up of songs. Kanye loses to Dre.

Fair statement on a surface level but beyond that, one kanye album can eclispe the entire dipset catalogue. I've seen both parties explode live in action abd dipset cant compare to kanyes "dressing alike" . Ppl still wearing his shoes and clothes on a global scale at that. They arent comparable as far as influence...

If people made the "more modern" argument about dipset then get at them about that. It was great for its moment, but they shyt sound more dated than the Lox music.

In their hey day, dipset always been
garbage performers. That lost them that battle just as much as anything. Bet NONE of yall better say Dre is a more captivating performer than Kanye

I aint seein it. But have at it

Dre can play "Xxplosive" back to back twenty times in a row and still win.

This is tricky because it'll ultimately depend on the crowd especially since their styles are pretty different.

Dre's sound is the defining sound of West Coast gangster rap and his music is very much intertwined with the 80's, 90's and early 2000's which tons of people in the Verzuz crowd have heavy nostalgia for whereas Kanye blew up in the 21st century and has tons of different sounds across his eras.

I think a set list like this would help Kanye compete with Dre.

1. Can't Tell Me Nothin
2. Guess Who's Back(Scarface)
3. You Don't Know My Name(Alicia Keys)
4. Gold Digger
5. Jesus Walks
6. Touch The Sky
7. Power
8. Encore(Jay-Z)
9. Slow Jamz
10. nikkas In Paris
11. Through The Wire
12. Higher(Do Or Die)
13. All Falls Down
14. Flashing Lights
15. Devil In A New Dress
16. Bound 2
17. Dreams(The Game)
18. Run This Town(Jay-Z)
19. Get By(Talib)
20. The People(Common)

I think Dre would still win just because Kanye's style is different and doesn't have any contributions to the golden age but I do think the songs I listed would at least have people remembering how great the "old Kanye" is and the uplifting messages on many of those songs might contrast positively to Dre's more street themed content. Who knows?

That's dope list.

Still, Kanye doesn't have the amount of iconic songs Dre has. Like, "You Don't Know My Name" is as classic as it gets, but does it survive a round with Mary J. Blige's "Family Affair" or Michel'le's "Something In My Heart"?

Kanye pulls out "Guess Who's Back" and "Xxplosive" is an easy layup.

Im leaning towards Kanye due to his sound being closer to alignment with current music way much more than dre

One of the biggest factors of Verzuz is nostalgia

We're talking 2000s nostalgia vs 80s/90s and even 2000s nostalgia lol. Ye is unbelievably outclassed in this regard. Dre just has wayyyyy to many anthems to choose from. Songs with Pac, DOC, Em, Snoop, Nas, Jay Z, Eazy, 50, the list goes on. Sorry man but you're delusional if you think Ye stands a chance
