There was one prominent person who was not impressed with Kanye West’s highly-watched interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” In fact, famed Hollywood attorney and feminist Gloria Allred denounced Yeezy’s hostile stance on paparazzi, in particular, as “shameful” and a “disgrace.”
If you watched the interview, you remember that the self-proclaimed “genius” rapper issued a warning to paparazzi about disrespecting his family, telling them “don’t try to antagonize me, because it’s not safe for you in this zoo, you know? Never think that I’m not from Chicago for one second.”
There is some self interest involved in the criticisms of the Kanye interview because Allred is representing photographer Danny Ramos, the man who was famously wrestled to the ground by an irate Yeezy at the Los Angeles International Airport a few months back. He is suing West for assault, battery, negligence and violation of his civil rights.
“In his televised appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel show he sent a message that anyone that crosses him is not safe and that no one should forget that he is from Chicago,” Allred told radaronline.com.
“We have a message to you Mr. West in response. You will be held accountable for your actions both in the criminal justice system and in the civil justice system.
“Your remarks are shameful and add further insult to the injuries that you inflicted upon my client.”
Speculation is that Allred will seek hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages for the physical fracas.
“You say that you bring ‘joy to the world’. I say you disgrace your profession and bring shame to your hometown of Chicago when you make reference to being from Chicago as some sort of threat,” Allred added.
During court proceeding in the criminal case this week, the Los Angeles City Attorney asked the judge to make West undergo anger management classes while the case was pending.
The motion was denied and the West’s arraignment was postponed until November 7.
