Why do HL regulars ALWAYS side with big corporations and government against the people, especially children?

Would any of you dikk faced fukks like to see your child sit in front of a computer for 8hrs a day and have it be called "school"?!

Why does HL hate children so much?

Child: Dad I really can't do this new computer thing anymore. I think Im developing carpel tunnel(sp?), and I have daily headaches.

HL liberal: Fukk you son, Mark Zuckerberg and Nancy Pelosi, say this is the future. If you die, you die.:jawalrus:

Child::why:

HLL: *tunes in to MSNBC*

Look at what they do for their own kids. All them Silicon Valley parents are sending their kids to tech-free schools, but when it comes to public schools for other people's kids they want computers in every classroom.

@Meta Reign, when did @Rhakim stop being a hl regular... you skipped past his post that was on the side of the students and little guy and against big tech to go on your nonsensical rant about how hl only supports big tech....

do i smell an agenda here.... :patrice:

That isn't what's happening.

Why don't you aim your ire at Kansas for their libertarian/conservative fantasy of 0 taxes and practically nothing spent on education and allowing this to happen in the first place?

Its not just Kansas. Children are walking out 9n this thing nationwide. . . But let me guess, them and their parents are just too unrefined to appreciate the awesomeness, big government and big tech has given them, right?

I don't support big tech, didn't learn this way, and probably couldn't. If my intentions weren't crystal clear, I don't support this.

What big government? The problem largely exists here because Kansas destroyed their education system.

Stop jousting with windmills.

Why are the students in Kansas incapable of learning? :usure:

That's a loaded question. Who are these kids, who are their parent(s)? Do they eat breakfast? Were they pacing themselves properly? I stare at a computer all day and I make sure to take a break on an hourly basis.

Is this an off-chute of the spending constraints (and cuts) that came about from the Tax Cut Experiment or was Kansas education always so shot? Honest question, not a rhetorical troll job.

Ummm, I'm pretty sure most states have "education issues." Unless you're Minnesota or New Hampshire.

The folks that have kids also have computers in their school. Not sure where you get your info from. The Chinese are having 6 year olds learning machine learning (which is crazy but that's a whole other topic). Sal Khan advocates the Flipped Classroom model but certain special interest groups will oppose this. I calling b.s. b/c I think this program was deliberately sabotaged in order to have authorities throw the baby out with the bath water. Zucker is a smart dude but he's isht when it comes to politics. Rule #1: Never experiment with a primarily minority group. Always try something with white folks first. Zuck torpedoed his own program w/o realizing it.

Breh, I help run international education conferences, I have a good feel for what people are doing in education all over the world. Technology is where the money is right now and technology-obsessed people are going to keep force-feeding it to children, but there are a lot of voices out there saying that it's a terrible idea, and some of those voices are coming from the people who know best.

You seriously don't know that many Silicon Valley parents are starting to avoid schools with computers? This has been a major news story for a few years now.

It’s because they’re from Kansas...

If you have money, are already in a leadership position, and plan for your child to be, then why would you teach them the same way you do the common folk?

Also, China, Silicon Valley, and Kansas have very different interests. So I can see why a "one teacher fits all students" approach wouldn't work here.

Ummm, I'm pretty sure most states have "education issues." Unless you're Minnesota or New Hampshire.

To clarify here, the Kansas tax cut experiment led to revenue shortages and in order to keep it going they had to cut a lot of other budgets. Those cuts included education cuts that meant consolidation which leads to larger class sizes and less resources. So when the article mentions

Many families in the Kansas towns, which have grappled with underfunded public schools and deteriorating test scores, initially embraced the change. Under Summit’s program, students spend much of the day on their laptops and go online for lesson plans and quizzes, which they complete at their own pace. Teachers assist students with the work, hold mentoring sessions and lead special projects. The system is free to schools. The laptops are typically bought separately.

I'm wondering whether or not the scores and results were declining even before the tax cut experiment began. That's something I honestly don't know and since this is such recent history, I'm not even sure if it's been researched...but Kansas is a really good place to explore the impact of tax cuts since you can draw relative comparisons on the trends of growth or decline to other states that didn't implement those massive cuts.
