A doctor husband with a lawyer wife in a house that would have been worth over $700,000's in the 80's (worth over 5 million dollars today) that could put all their kids through college and had an eldest daughter that traveled the world doing humanitarian work are not middle class fam. Stop it.

I went to a college that's on the same level as Berkeley for engineering (at least it was when I went) with a warehouse glass delivering dad and a teaching aid mother (aka a middle class person) in the late 00's.
Someone with Shyamala's background is not middle class or living any kind of middle class experience. Having diplomat parents, traveling to multiple countries, moving to America to study at Berkeley, none of this is middle class, especially in the 70's.
You don't know what's in her bank account, you don't know how much aid she was getting from her well off family, you don't know why she didn't buy a house until she moved to Canada.
All you have is the words of an unreliable narrator trying to paint having two PHD from Berkeley parents in the 70's as middle class so she can appear more relatable. Which is wild to me, but not unusual for elite kids to talk down their folks.

A PhD means nothing by itself. Unless you're some world-renowned brain surgeon.
A single mom with two little girls is so rich that she bounces from rental to rental, intentionally avoiding buying a house until her girls are teenagers. That sounds more realistic?

I don't know why she bounces from rental to rental, I also don't know why she chooses not to buy a house.
But her profile reads as someone who had no long term plans to stay in the Bay Area and was looking for where she could be comfortable and grow roots. I'd imagine she made the choice not to buy a home to keep her employment options open. It was only a matter of finding a place where she felt like she could settle long term. Which just so happened to be in an elite Canadian Suburb lol.
This is a woman that traveled all over the world, moved to America from India to study at Berkeley and lived in multiple states in this country. Moving around with no intention of settling down long term was clearly a thing she did in her 20's.
