That song wasn’t big enough for it to be some huge deal because a 10 year old from the Memphis trenches didn’t hear it. I mean your average rap fan had no clue who pusha T was outside of the drake beef.

its people on the chitterlings circuit in the mid west and south out 10-20 years before Kanye was thought about that she probably resonated with much more than Kanye who was 5 albums deep at this time.

nikka who da fck is pusha t to Kanye west.
Thats not a good comparison.
I only know a few songs from the clipse. Pusha t is the internets guy in my opinion.

Again, I'm sure a 10yr old listened to the damn radio or watched music videos. Like she said, she watched 106.

If u played a lil guitar rift or just the intro to Barry white song I heard back when I was a kid, I probably couldn't tell u if I heard the song before.

So if she comes out and says she actually knows the song, all this back and forth gonna look real dumb lol

The responses in this thread give insight into some of y’all’s upbringing

I have tried to explain this on the coli years ago, but it just doesn’t seem to register. The hood does not play mainstream music. Now of course there are exceptions. There are songs that get play that happen to be mainstream, but mainstream music has never dictated what is played in the hood.

It’s really that simple.

There are regional artists/songs out there that thecoli has never heard of. I’ve seen many threads on here dedicated to regional artists that do not get any responses, but those same artists get more play than your favorite mainstream artists.

Exactly. 25 years ago Pimp C told ya’ll:
“You gets no play in that Texas, yo sh*t don’t bump in the trunk.”

Lots of mainstream rap doesn’t get play in the deep south. Again, Kanye was mainly the YT hipter crowd, definitely not the Black spots. Boosie was bigger than Kanye by far in the South for example.

We got our own classics that EVERYONE here knows

She a 10 year old girl in the social media era. And as we learned in this thread she didnt even listen to rap as a kid like that
Then she shouldn't able to say who "the South" was listening to if she wasn't listening herself. And as stated for the Xth time, Kai is younger than her in the same era.
