If you're one of Hollywood's most legendary gossip-mongers, forced to sit in your hands for months by a non-compete clause before launching your own self-titled website, you'd better come back with a doozy of a scoop. Fortunately, that's what Nikki Finke has done: the much-feared, much-ridiculed writer debuted her new NikkiFinke.com site earlier today, and has followed it up with a pretty huge story: the details of Warner Bros.' plans for their DC Comics movies, which the studio were planning to reveal at Comic-Con.

Beyond a May 6th "Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice" date (pushed back from the original summer 2015 plan, which Finke says is due to wanting to shift the film to plan more for "Avengers"-style team-ups and cameos), little's been confirmed from Warners about what they have planned, beyond how crucial the DC properties are to a franchise-starved studio.

But while Finke stresses that the situation's still in flux, she says that 'Dawn Of Justice' will be followed up with a "Shazam" movie in July 2016 (which may well be the DC property that Dwayne Johnson has been hinting at, and which has a release date that puts it directly in conflict with an as-yet unannounced Marvel movie). Then Joseph Gordon-Levitt's adaptation of "Sandman," a fairly risky prospect, will hit that Christmas, squaring off with Gareth Edwards' "Star Wars" movie.

Beyond that, 2017 will bring the main event of a "Justice League" movie in May before "Wonder Woman" finally gets a solo picture that July (presumably starring Gal Gadot), while that Christmas will see an as-yet untitled movie teaming up The Flash and Green Lantern, the latter of whom will NOT be played by Ryan Reynolds. And finally (for now), a direct sequel to "Man Of Steel" will hit in May 2018, five years after the first film. It's an ambitious schedule, with three movies a year seemingly planned, and with "Metal Men" and "Suicide Squad" pictures also mooted at some point too.

Unless Finke went completely mental during her exile, she's normally reliable enough, so it seems that Warners' big Comic-Con surprises may have been spoiled. Certainly, all eyes will be on Hall H, and we'll see if further details like directors and casting are revealed in the meantime.

May 2016 – Batman v Superman
July 2016 – Shazam
Xmas 2016 – Sandman
May 2017 – Justice League
July 2017 – Wonder Woman
Xmas 2017 – Flash and Green Lantern team-up
May 2018 – Man Of Steel 2

Outside of Bats/Supes, only movie that even has a chance at being good is that Flash/Lantern team-up. (Hopefully we get John Stewart this time :blessed:)

No one checking for Wonder Woman in 2017 :camby:

Japan, but from the 989
Warner Bros don't know what to do...and this just confirms it. Sandman is gonna bomb. Why? It could be a good movie...but putting it against a Star Wars movie? :mjlol: Green Lantern/Flash crossover movie? These mothafukkas are stupid as hell. lol It is true they are great friends in the comic, but you want to make money Warner Bros....Make a Green Lantern movie based off The Blackest Night Story line. There is no excuse for this shyt. Warner Bros has an ENTIRE Universe at their fingertips. It's not like Marvel's universe that is split up amongst other studios. They can have the ENTIRE universe in a movie, imagine a Infinite Crisis Movie!??! The real problem is that they are thinking far ahead but not with enough depth. You don't have to follow the comics verbatim but at least use the blueprint. I'm happy to see a Shazam movie but damn I feel like this is just thrown all together last min.

I hope they do the neil gamiman version of sandman. Then again that is better suited for Straz, showtime or HBO as a series.

Sandman coming out the same month as Star Wars does not equal coming out the same day as Star Wars.
And I honestly don't understand your criticism. You want WB to jump out the gate making movies based on massive crossovers from the comics? That makes no sense. Sure DC has some of the most easily recognizable characters in the world but you can't jump headfirst into massive crossovers without doing the requisite world building for their cinematic universe.

The first Green Lantern probably turned nikkas off, and they can't have Ryan Reynolds anywhere near Flash.

They should let Levitt play Flash instead of Sandman.

If they wanted to they could make an Infinity Crisis movie. I'm not saying off the jump, because that would be hella stupid. But they have the entire Universe, which could open up to such possibilities. But instead we are getting Crossover movies. Batman vs Superman. Green Lantern vs Flash...I mean WTF are they thinking? And Sandman could come out against anything and it still won't do numbers. (It needs to be on HBO) Who really wants to see a Sandman movie? But putting it in the same month with Star Wars?! SHHHHHHHHEEEIIITTTTTT! Instant Redbox classic. It's not rocket science here.

December has 31 fukking days in it...the Star Wars flick probably comes out around Christmas. Sandman could come out in the first week of December for all we know.
So you don't want smaller team-up movies in the first wave of their cinematic universe roll out but you do want massive crossovers that involve a ton of characters? But not just yet? :what:Maybe this is rocket science because I am not understanding what you are trying to say, bruh.

I don't think team-up movies will work for JL, but I see what y'all saying.

We all know Sandman is gonna flop.. No one is gonna be thinking of Sandman with Star Wars in the same month as it. Ramp up for Star Wars is gonna start in November. Commercials, toys, internet, and other ads. Sandman is gonna get pushed back. Star Wars is a different type of beast. Sandman will be forgotten. I'll put COLI money on it. This smaller team-up movie idea is okay, if the characters are established. Green Lanterns last movie...flop...Flash's tv show might get some attention for the movie but why would you have a Flash/Green Lantern movie in the first place!? When done correctly both of those characters could create franchises on there own...ESPECIALLY Green Lantern. It just seems like WB is trying to push these characters and are undervaluing what they have.

Recap

Push Sandman's release date back...get it away from Star Wars.
Green Lantern/Flash movie I think is undervaluing the brand.
I may be wrong...but I doubt it.

So basically you think Hollywood should not release any movies at all in December except for the Star Wars spin-off movie because nothing could possibly make any money with the specter of whatever solo Star Wars character will be getting his own movie. Gotcha.
Now a little history: The Phantom Menace came out May 19, 1999 and made a ton of money; a few weeks earlier The Mummy came out and guess what? The Mummy made over $100 million. So a movie can make money even if it does come out the same month as a Star Wars movie.
And if a Flash/Green Lantern movie is successful then it would no doubt spawn solo movies for the characters so I don't see why it matters whether they have solo movies first or go the team up route. Either way it gets the characters on movie screens. Plus if this comes after the Justice League movie then these two characters will have already been established for audiences. And the reason for the team up movie is likely because of the Green Lantern movie flopping so hard.
