I get what you’re saying cuz I watched it again recently :laff: it didn’t age well. But it holds a place in our hearts for how dope it was at the time. Breath of fresh air for the genre.

No you wouldn't have. Close your eyes, and try to imagine living in a world where there have been no slasher films released or at least in theatres long enough to see, for over a decade. Not only that, none of the slasher films you've seen have ever shown the star of the film not surviving. Then out of the blue one of greatest horror directors decides to make a slasher film starring one of the top actresses working today, let's use Jennifer Lawrence for this exercise. All of promo, the trailers and posters, features Jennifer as the lead. Everyone is hyped. There's never been a slasher film get this much mainstream attention before its release, not even Halloween or Friday the 13th. So opening night you and your friends are set and ready to see how Jennifer's character will survive the new boogieman. Yall watch in shock as not only Jennifer gets gutted in the first 5 minutes,:damn: but the movie calls out all of the tropes you expected, breaking the 4th wall and warning that all your expectations will be subverted:lupe:. Then you find out theres not just one boogieman, theres two. Noone has ever done two!:gladbron: Yeah, it was an awesome.

How didn't it age well? Aside from the clothes & hair...which can be said for every movie, it's not only a classic for it's time, it's a great movie.

It's rare that a movie that toes the lines of different genres has everyone that gets it, and is in on it. It's a whodunit, slasher, teen comedy, that (verbally) plays with the slasher tropes. The characters are good, charming, and zany enough. The plot is solid, yet simple enough to be followed by even the least attentive, they made sure they established all motives, and even the town itself is a character...with its own charm and mystique.

Wow, I saw it on VHS a few years after it was available to rent. I had no idea they marketed the movie as Drew Barrymore being the lead. That’s ballsy as fukk. I can only imagine watching in theaters when it was released with that twist. That’s unheard of. :ohhh:

When I first saw Scream I never even heard about it and didn't even know who Drew Barrymore was or make the connection that she was the girl from ET.

I saw this trailer in front of some movie and was hype from it as a 9 year old. I was like, "Tremors in space with RoboCop :ooh:"

My dad asked if there was anything I wanted to rent and I said Screamers and he brought home Scream. I'm glad he made that mistake and still haven't seen Screamers:mjlol:
