then why is he, his team and his supporters constantly trying to portray him as something he's not, an ally to black people. they see it as a beneficial to eitehr say black folks to vote for him and sway white moderates who don't want to be associated with outright racism.

CACs wanted Trump to win in 2016. It's why none of his controversy really surfaced until later on either. The market pressures from China made them think that Obama was respobsible for the drop in their quality of life. Think about it, 2008 financial crisis happens and their wealth nose dives overnight, at the same time China is getting stronger and so american businesses who cant compete go out of business. All of this happening througout Obama's two presidencies. I can imagine that they blamed him for all of that and Trump was their savior.If true, this should have come out in 2016.

That was in 2016. If there was more off the record footage, it would've surfaced in 2020 but it didn't. Now we're being told the tape exists?
I would like to be wrong, and I'd like to live in an America where that would make a difference to his prospects but let's be honest with ourselves. White people vote for him BECAUSE he's racist. A tape confirming that he talks just like they suspected will make them feel even more validated.
