Yeah I went to see Pacific Rim at Lincoln Square in IMAX. It's really something quite spectacular.

Real IMAX is open matte. There aren't that many of them. Screen is square and close
. The actual IMAX scenes cover the whole screen, which is tall. Fake IMAX is more like XD or Dolby Cinema without the great color and contrast. If it's not real IMAX with lots of IMAX scenes, Dolby Cinema is better.

Like homie said though. There are only a few of these in America.. Luckily I'm close to the DMV.. Still a 2 hour drive, but my mom lives there.. So we'll just make it a family event

I learned this the hard way as a kid. Growing up in Tucson, we had one of the fake IMAX's...sound quality was still amazing, but yeah, screen wasn't all that amazing...come out to Wichita, KS, and this small city has a real IMAX..shyt blew my mind.real IMAX or fake one?
