Well DC said that Tony didn't die, but since JG is gone, we'll never know with a follow-up. If you really into the show, the fates of other characters can lend an idea on what will happen to the Soprano Crew...Remember, once RICO came into effect, The Mafia lost much of its power and this is evident with Paulie, Tony, Uncle Junior, Richie Aprile, etc wanting things to be "Like Old Times''. Now they have to talk business at gas stations and Party City stores. This was a huge, yet subtle point that AJ ironically came to realize when he was dating that girl with legit money, Devon. She had a huge mansion and is worth hundreds of millions while The Sopranos were worth maybe 6 Mill all through illegal streams and criminal activities.

Based on that....
Tony gets a life sentence since Carlo flipped to save his son. Due to Tony's poor impulse control and the direct/indirect causes of death for his top earners (Ralphie and Vito), he didn't have enough money to fight his RICO case. Pleading guilty would label him a rat since Johnny Sac did the same thing (allocution) and he wouldn't want to be labeled as such, so he'll fight the trial and lose big.

Carmella loses the house as the upkeep was very expensive even when Tony was Boss and with crews bringing in major dollars. With Tony unable to provide for Carm, the house gets sold to Albert Barese as he's always been a top earner. This was made abundantly clear in the final season as Tony's money was drying up. Remember the first season where he kept 250K in a dufflebag just for emergencies? And then he could barely pay Hesh is 300k loan back in S6? I foresee her failing at her real estate game because her first flip was handed to her with her Pop's helping out and Tony and Silvio getting the permits and down payment. She's a housewife out of touch with reality and may end up living with Rosalie or ironically working for Charmaine and Artie lol...

Paulie is included on the indictments and gets what is natural life for him.

Carlo goes into Witness Protection

Uncle Jun dies of dementia and penniless

Janice ends up on public assistance and working at a Popeye's since Bobby was the breadwinner.

AJ gets devoured by the Hollywood lifestyle and with no guidance or support system, he becomes Bubbles from The Wire....

Silvio dies as he too runs out of money to pay for expensive hospital and life-support resources. As a result, his wife ends up working at Target.

Meadow becomes a high-profile defense attorney, though unable to save her father. She marries Pat's son and no longer is a Soprano.

Walden, Benny, Murmur, Patsy, Albert, and Donny are all that is left of the original gang. Patsy becomes the Boss of the NJ Crew as vengeance for Tony killing his twin brother from Season 1 and Tony becomes Uncle Jun in a sense, the lightning rod that "Gets hit, heaven forbid".

Kelly Moltisanti ends up losing her house since Chris wasn't a great earner and was broke spending money on H and trips to Hollywood. Kelly can't keep his daughter in check and she'll be starting her new position at the Bing in 2024.

NY Families just laugh at the whole thing....

No Father To MY Style.. A Son Unique
while i think the ending did set up the murder, i do think it was meant that the hit is coming anytime. hell never know it, its just gonna happen one day when he least expects it. i dont think that he got hit right then and there and if gandolfini was alive maybe theyre be a movie down the line but alas he died and you can just take it as he was hit.

NYC black coffee tough guys aka the Stoozy Boys
The problem was DC flexing his artsy degree at the audience. While the show does start in a cerebral alley, so to speak, its then followed by baseball bats, guns, whores, and drugs. So to leave the watchers of the show with such a lukewardm art house ending was pompous and disrespected the source. Sopranos was as direct as a show got. Like the one dimensional thought process of every mafioso in it, the show delivered brutal in your face consequences....so ending the show on a door bell, is both ironic and lazy.

Mostly because they never hung out with Mafia types. Also during their come up, Gotti had very little power left. You really have to be in their line of sight to be extorted by them. Like Sinatra, dude hung out with em, so of course he was gonna owe them money or favors. Also once said rappers got rich, they moved the fukk out of the ghetto, they aren't running in crime infested areas trying to hang out with known gang members. The mafia controls very little of NY now and back then nothing much to brag about.

The rule of Omerta is out, and everyone flips like a pancake these days, so not many want to join, or the assimilated Italians prefer to live a less crime laden lifestyle, instead prefer, gym, clothes, and pretending they have connection. Anytime some goombah tries to open his mouth about being "connected" I always laugh him off. Me and the Stoozy boys do more damage these days.

You're wrong

Optimistic But I Got Hands Tho
Tony is definitely dead. If he didn’t die in that restaurant the Feds were going to get him. His money was dwindling and so were his friends/support.

I re-watch the last two seasons often. They went out the way to show all the possible ways a mob man goes out....dying in jail (Johnny Sack), dying old and alone (Uncle June), becoming a rat (Carlo), and dying unexpectedly in a violent manner (Bobby).

Tony and Phil had to both die to move things along between NY and NJ.

What do you think happened with everyone?

What paths did they take?
I usually finish then start a rewatch within 3months :wow:

-Tony got whacked.
If it wasn't Butchies plan all along then I think he definetly does it after the way Phil got whacked in front of his wife and grandkids..then having his head ran over.

Butchie to save face and keep his crew happy has to whack Tony.

Tony lost so many allies and no one liked him.

-Paulie ends up doing work with New York..gets put in charge of a small crew

Absolutely

The way Tony was with money I doubt he stashed enough to take care of the taxes, bills of that crib.

Big time, Johnny Sac was more prudent with his funds and the Feds still found everything and seized most of his assets....his wife had to move in with her daughter....

Conversely, Tony and Carm were horrible with money. I think Tony gave Carm 5k a month during their seperation and it still wasn't enough...

Uncle Jun's trial probably cost over a million easy(400k alone for wire tap investigation)....Season 6 Tony couldn't even pay for the heating bill for the pool and had to drain it....

Carm was too lazy and spoiled to do any kind of real work, so Mead will take care of her...
