It all depends on what you trying to play. Latest games that are really optimized for PC is Far Cry 3, DmC, and Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed(Game is fukking amazing)

Yea if you get a card you'll be good. Right now you may get away with running modern games at playable frames on medium settings or even high depending on how optimized it is. It all depends on what you deem as acceptable. 720P with 60FPS on older games is still an improvement over the console counterparts.
