I think getting positive rep entails that you hold the same values as most the members at thecoli. Thecoli pretty much has a way of being "politically correct" and if you don't follow the mechanism to score points you will lose rep. I started the forum out with +100 than started posting some controversial yet true posts and the negs started coming in. If you don't agree with the masses on thecoli you will at some point or another get negged and In my opinion there is nothing wrong with that. In modern day society there are severe consequences to openly speaking your mind and we can see that this same behavior is mirrored here on thecoli. 90% of people are sheep and have no type of ability to critical think/formulate their own opinions. Most people just repeat what a smarter person said to them while not truly understanding what they are saying. Coli is a good example on why political correctness is damaging to a society, and hinders growth in the critical thinking department.
I've been going board to board and it seems the Coli is better in that regard than most. A lot of boards there is a real agenda going on and you gotta "follow the herd" so to speak. Like what is the point of having threads of current events if you can't appreciate and respect diverging opinions?
I mean the only time I would neg someone is if he disrupting a constructive conversation where everyone can learn something by turning it into flame wars which frankly needs to stop everywhere.
There should be a sub-section of the forum solely dedicated to flame wars where posts cannot be negged and it stays separate from the main ones. Call nikkas out all you want on it and let it be a free for all. The rest of us trying to learn something new once in a while not watch yall battle all the damn time.
