Saw in theaters. It was ok. Reminded me of a 90's legal thriller, probably on purpose. In the 90's, this would have been a wild ride, with a killer hunting the juror or whatever. Eastwood is so heavy handed. Saw the last one too. The Richard Jewel one. The thriller angle barely works. Some of the jurors got dangerously close to caricatures. The black ones for sure. The main conceit is pretty unbelievable, that the prosecutors wouldn't even consider that a car hit the victim, seems beyond belief.

But it was old fashioned movie making and it wasn't a horrible watch.

This was so mid to me. Kinda felt like a Lifetime movie. Messina’s character gotta be one of the WOAT defense attorneys I’ve seen in a movie.

The likelihood of a coroner failing to even consider a hit and run after a look at the victim’s body is slim, and that’s only one of the many things that didn’t make sense here. I get what Clint was going for with the overall message, but this moved a little too ridiculous for me.

Right. So many better legal thrillers, that didn't have that kind of flat and unbelievable plot point. It felt very mechanical. It wasn't very interesting and it wasn't credible. Needs to be at least one for a thriller to work.

:dead:

This is fukking 1993 cliche mid. :dead:

The acting so overbearing by the jury, especially the 2 Black jury members.

I know the director told them to play up the trope. No way this would even be a a theater movie in 1993.:dead:

This wouldn't even be a HBO movie in 93.

I didn't know Clint Eastwood was involved till the end then it made full sense. :mjlol:

I recently watched “12 Angry Men” and immediately the jury deliberation was basically a retelling of that in a way

I thought it was very clever

Like… literally lines from that movie to this one lol.

Characters were pretty much like that movie too

Hey, you might want to cross-examine the ONE eyeball witness and ask how he could be certain of the guy’s identity when it was hundreds of feet away in the rain in the middle of the night.

Should've been a hung jury after they got to the point of visiting the crime scene and analyzing her injuries.
What did she do?
Showing up on his doorstep implied she was going to follow through with trying to overturn the case
