There were some shockwaves earlier this week, when former champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-1-1, 32KOs) announced that he signed an agreement with adviser/manager Al Haymon.

Chavez is currently dealing with a lawsuit where the boxer is attempting to break his promotional contract with Top Rank. Chavez claims the contract expired in September and Top Rank claims the boxer is still obligated to them for one more fight and has until April of 2016 to make good on that obligation.

The Mexican star is not paying attention to the legal mess and instead is going have Haymon, and adviser's legal team, deal with Top Rank. Chavez is focusing on returning in early 2015.

"We hope to have a date in late January or February, there are good plans, they are looking at many names and the idea is to fight three times in 2015 perhaps in February, July and close in September or later in the year. Let's see what's best for us. The first option is to fight at 168 pounds," Chavez Jr. told ESPN Deportes.

"I do not know yet [what network I'll be fighting on. [Haymon] will tell me what suits me best, where my best interests are met. So if HBO make an offer and if Showtime offers more, he will decide. Haymon will handle [details of the TV network]. I have nothing to do with it. Whoever wants to negotiate with me should negotiate with them. [Signing with Haymon] is what I wanted. The truth is, things are already clearer with him, regarding the certain percentage he takes. Before I did not know how much was taken off, why it was taken off. I was fighting blindly."

"Haymon and lawyers will [handle the Top Rank issues]. I have to focus on training and fighting as it always should be. My job is to train, I have that approach, which I have to see things from the sporting arena and not worry about other things."
