Im pretty sure Cashman, is gonna vouch for Girardi as well.

They don't have to fire him, his contract ends at the culmination of this season.

The no-challenge was bad, but it's not enough to move on from a good manager like Joe. The main issue is the rift between he and the players that's been hinted at all season. It's well documented he and Gary don't mesh, now you got Chapman basically tossing him under the bus, the body language between he and Betances says it all, etc..

The team is about to enter a pivotal stretch where their kids are all grown up, a ton of money comes off the books and can be pumped back into the team, and expectations become sky high. You can't commit to Binder with a new 5 year contract if the players hate him.
